Charleston Gazette, Dec. 10, 1946
Mrs. Sally Shaffer -- 80, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sherman
McGrew of Nitro. Surviving are one other daughter, Mrs. Biddie Shamblin,
Plymouth; three sons, William B., Plymouth, Marcus L. and Jessie, Red House; one
sister, Mrs. Julia Painter, Charleston; one brother, Thomas Christy, Pinch; 14
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the
Bancroft Baptist Church with Johnny King officiating.  Burial in Schowen
Cemetery will be directed by Cooke Mortuary at Nitro. The body will remain at
the mortuary until time of service.

Additional Comments:
Sallie was the daughter of Michael Christopher (born in Ireland) and Elizabeth
Vance. She was the wife of Marcus Lafayette Shaffer who died March 22, 1915.
