McDowell 10/16/2009 Additional Comments: Frazier Cemetery IV 9 Cedar View Lane (rear) Fraziers Bottom, Putnam County, West Virginia USA Cemetery notes and/or description: Cemetery of Christopher Columbus Frazier (1831-1882) and family, son of Allen Frazier (1801-1861, Frazier-Washington Cemetery), grandson of Fraziers Bottom founders, Samuel & Ann Frazier. The cemetery is located in the woods on the back part of the property owned by John & Sandra Gatens, 9 Cedar View Lane, Fraziers Bottom, WV. This cemetery is on PRIVATE PROPERTY and visitors ARE NOT WELCOME and ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY. Enter at your own risk!!! July 13, 2011 Note: West Virginia Code 37-13A-1 & 2 "Access of certain persons to cemeteries and graves located on private property" and "Purposes for which access is allowed" states that the owners of land which a cemetery or graves are located HAVE A DUTY TO ALLOW INGRESS AND EGRESS to the cemetery or graves by family members, close friends or descendants of deceased persons buried there, by any cemetery plot owner, or BY ANY PERSON ENGAGING IN GENEAOLOGY RESEARCH who has given reasonable notice to the owner of record. NOTE: This is the same cemetery and people as listed in the "Christopher Columbus Frazer Cemetery" entered by Ernie Wright in October 2008. Although all tombstones/markers read Frazer, all individuals buried in this cemetery are actually Fraziers, verified by historical/family records. The death records of Morris, Christopher Columbus, Albert, Essie, & Charles Allen all read Frazier. How this mistake happen is unknown but carried on to other family members buried in this cemetery. Stone masons/engravers of this time period were generally Italian immigrants and once translation errors occurred, maybe family members just carried it on.
