Lewis is one of the brothers of my GGrandfather, Sinclair Casey Jr, and is listed as James Lewis Casey in Sinclair Sr.'s will. He obviously preferred to be called Lewis Casey, as evidenced by marriage documents, and his own last will & testament. Submitted by Lewis E. Testator Lewis Casey, Putnam Co., WV Will made: May 18, 1897 First: To wife Martha, twenty-five acres of a tract of land on Limekiln Creek in Putnam County to comprise the homestead situated next below the branch known as Shell Bark and extending across the main tract from the Military line to the back line as nearly parallel with the branch as convenient, and on the South side from the mouth of Shell Bark straight up to the Military line; this being for her dower interest in testator's land. Second: To son Lewis Casey, fifty acres on west side of land from the Military line to the back line and parallel with Veto Farrar's line of joining land. Third: To two daughters Ada M. and Hada L. Casey, the land lying next below the 50 acres given to Lewis Casey and extending down to the Shell Bark branch and to the upper side or line of said dower, to be equally divided between them from the Military line to back line and as the lot next to the above, Hada L. to have the upper half and Ada M. the lower half. Fourth: To daughter Miriam Casey, eighteen acres next below the dower land, from Military line across to the back line and parallel as nearly as convenient with lower side of dower. Fifth: To daughter Laura Casey, fifteen acres next below Miriam's to be laid off in like manner. Sixth: To daughter George Anna Casey, fifteen acres next below Laura's to be laid off in like manner. Seventh. To two daughters Martha Jane Coulter and Nannie McGill, all the rest of land next below George Anna's and extending to the lower line, the quantity unknown to testator at that time to be laid off as the others equally between them. As to personal estate, to wife Martha, all live stock and farm tools and implements, all household furniture and articles for the use of unmarried children and children under age so long as she remains a widow and keeps the children at home together and live as one family. Personal estate consisting of notes, bonds and money estimated to be about one thousand dollars ($1000.) as follows: to daughter Ada M. and Hada L. $500. equally divided between them by the executor when they become of lawful age. To son Lewis Casey $200. to be paid as above stated. To daughter Miriam, $100. To daughters Laura and George Anna $50. each and to wife $100.
