Register Herald Obituaries for April 12, 2000 Clyde V. Bailey Clyde Vincent Bailey, 61, of Fairdale, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born April 9, 1939, in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Bob Lee Bailey and Gracie Jane Basham. Mr. Bailey was a 61-year resident of Raleigh County. He was a general laborer for Southern Soil Conservation. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Marie Bailey. Survivors include two brothers, Howard Bailey and his wife, Jeanette, and Frank Bailey and his wife, Regina, all of Fairdale; two sisters, Martha Ann Bailey of Elgin, S.C., and Freda Goodman and her husband, Calvin, of Fairdale; 12 nieces; and 14 nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Tommy Ringo officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff. Friends may call one hour before services today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Bailey, Keith Lusk, Wayne Cox, Anthony Belcher, Ronald Belcher and Thomas Brown. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Ernest R. Lively OAK HILL - Ernest Rae "Ernie" Lively, 86, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Feb. 9, 1914, in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Emory Warner and Ethie Ward Mankin Lively. Mr. Lively was retired from the West Virginia State Liquor Commission and the Farmer's Market, Beckley, and was formerly employed by Rosemont Floral in Oak Hill. He attended First Brethren Church, Oak Hill, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Lively had no formal musical education, but instead "played by ear." He loved playing the piano and had performed at many local churches and nursing homes and at Pied Piper in Crossroads Mall. Mr. Lively, along with Warren and Rusty Hatcher, Charlie Puckett and Phillip Sizemore, performed as "Ernie Lively and the Lively Five Band." He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Les, "PeaVine" and Ed Lively; and three sisters, Ruth Lively, Ruby Williamson and Jean Wilkerson. Survivors include his companion, Dixie Kincaid of Oak Hill; four daughters, Katrina Van Forren of Beckley, Rebecca Lynn Hildebrand of Oak Hill, Sandra Rae Lipinski of Charlotte, N.C., and Jennifer Jo Dunn of Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandsons, Christopher Hildebrand of Oak Hill and Matthew Dunn of Clearwater. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Brethren Church, Oak Hill, with the Rev. William Skeldon officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Michael W. Mize GREEN SULPHUR SPRINGS - Michael Wayne Mize, 43, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born Feb. 8, 1957, in Hinton, he was the son of Vera J. Russell Mize Kliewer of Green Sulphur Springs and the late George Howard Mize Jr. Mr. Mize had lived most of his life at Green Sulphur Springs. He was a welder and iron worker. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brittany Barber Mize; his paternal grandparents, George Howard Mize Sr. and Maude Ratliff Mize; and his maternal grandparents, Overton Russell and Bessie Harvey Russell. Other survivors include his wife of 21 years, Eleanor Barber Davis Mize; a son, Nathan Mize of Green Sulphur Springs; a daughter, Alisha Nicole Weese of Cowen; his stepfather, Elmer Kliewer of Green Sulphur Springs; three brothers, Edward L. Mize of Mount Olive and James Gregory "Butch" Mize and Carl Richard Mize, both of Green Sulphur Springs; four sisters, Patricia Ann Gourd of Casey, Iowa, Barbara Susan Matthews of Mount Carmel, Tenn., Maudie Jean Gates of Lansing, Mich., and Vera June Lafferty of Pontiac, Mich.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews; and many loving friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lick Creek Baptist Church, Green Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Clay O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow in Hallidan Cemetery, Green Sulphur Springs. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.
