Register Herald Obituaries for April 13, 2000 Thomas Brown ORLANDO, Fla. - Thomas "Tom" Brown, 86, formerly of Fayetteville and Institute, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Orlando following a short illness. Mr. Brown was born in Osceola County, Ala., he was a supervisor for Safety Supply at Union Carbide. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Orlando. Survivors include two sons, Guy Thomas Brown of Dunbar, and Leo Prentest Brown of Malden, Mass.; five daughters, Sephronia Collins of Brooklyn, N.Y., Norita Yvonne Harris of Dunbar, Mary Gilmer of Randolph, Mass., Barbara Rosalind Allen of Nashvlle, Tenn., and Faith Moss of St. Albans; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Emma Bowles of Garten and Erma Callander of Huntington. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Furgerson Memorial Baptist Church, 124 Marshall Ave., Dunbar, with the Rev. Emanuel A. Heyliger officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Millie Lusk Mildred "Millie" Ann Lusk, 45, of Fairdale, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Jan. 25, 1955, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Shrewsbury Bonds of Eccles and the late Thomas Bonds. Mrs. Lusk spent her childhood at Glen Daniel, she was a resident of Fairdale for many years and was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Cook and two brothers, Harold and Ernest Bonds. Other survivors include her husband, Johnny Lusk; three sisters, Dora Cook of Charlotte, N.C., Janice Taylor of Hinton, and Mary Claypool of Sophia; three brothers, Lowell Bonds of Hot Springs, Va., Roger Bonds and Freddie Bonds, both of Eccles; and a large extended family and two special friends, Emory and Debbie Webb. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel with Evangelist Patricia Smith and assisted by the Rev. Jerri Vaughan officiating. Mann, 90, of 109 Allman St. No. 12, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Hilltop Nursing Home, Oak Hill, following a long illness. Born May 21, 1909, in Kaymoor, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Myrtle Vannatter McNeil. Mrs. Mann was a life-long member of Scarbro Baptist Church and a member of the Oak Hill No. 107 Eastern Star Chapter and the Scarbro Homemakers Club. Mrs. Mann was an employee of the New River Company Store at Carlisle, being a dry goods clerk and postal clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil L. Mann. Survivors include a daughter, Zoe White and her husband, Barney, of Oak Hill; and three grandchildren, Donna Jackson and husband, Waren Volk, of Ghent, Daun Jackson and companion, John Roman, of Oak Hill, and Deborah J. Bryan and husband, George, of Winchester. Services will be 2 p.m. today at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard Miller officiating. Carmela Nutter FAYETTEVILLE - Carmela "Nellie" Nutter, 85, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, Ky., following a short illness. Born Dec. 23, 1914, in Smithers, she was the daughter of the late Nunico Stabagi and Grazia Bisle Stabagi. Mrs. Nutter was a retired factory worker with 15 years of service at Union Carbide at Alloy Plant. She was a member of St. Peter & St. Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Nutter on May 15, 1981; a sister, Anna Walton; and two brothers, John and Frank Stabagi. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa A. Perry of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Marc and Melissa Perry of Louisville; a brother, Alonzo Stabagi of Smithers; and three sisters, Louisa Cipriana, Mary Boyd and Rosie Glenn of Smithers. Born May 19, 1916, at Zenith, she was the daughter of the late Otis Hampton and Macy Maude Wallace Pyne Sr. Mrs. Radford was a homemaker, a retired employee of the B.F. Goodrich Plant at Union and a member of the Union Lighthouse Church of God, Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Emmett Radford; a brother, Bill Pyne; three sisters, Ruth Amos, Jean Knight and Sylvia Pyne; a halfbrother, Joe Pyne; and a halfsister, Annalee Rutherford.
