He worked for district offices in both Cleveland and Detroit before retiring in 1994 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force He graduated from West Virginia State College with a bachelor of science degree. He also attended Case Western Reserve University and the Marshall Law School at Cleveland State University. She was a graduate of Concord College and taught school in Raleigh County for more than 31 years, including 20 years at Odd Elementary School. She was a resident of Odd for many years before moving to Beckley in 1972. She was a member of the Grace Primitive Church at Cool Ridge She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Lacy Blankenship, on Jan. 22, 1967; her second husband, Walter Lee ³Scottie² Hatcher, on Feb. 22, 1985; five sisters, Dallas Texas Walker, Edith Glee Reed, Corda Camden Thompson, Topsy Dola Auer and Inza Elter Akers; and eight brothers, Oda Oliver, Boyd McGuffin, Karl Mason, Champ Clark, Troy Fetzer, Delpha Arlet, Verlin Henry, and Lenox Rayon Walker.
