Born Sept. 12, 1931, at Lake Shawnee, he was the son of the late Earl Roscoe Calfee and Roxie L. Tilley Calfee. The Rev. Calfee was a pastor and evangelist having been an ordained minister with the Appalachian District Assemblies of God for the past 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dillard Calfee and Mack Calfee; and a sister, Mildred Sutter. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Echols Calfee; three brothers, the Rev. Ralph Calfee and his wife, Charlotte, of Lake Shawnee, Carl Calfee and his wife, Sharon, of Princeton, and Jack Calfee and his wife, Patty, of Decatur, Ill.; and three sisters, Shelby Anthony and her husband, Robert, of Princeton, Betty Bailey and her husband, Larry, of Kegley, and Helen McBride and her husband, Bobby, of Lashmeet. Born May 13, 1939, at Daniels, he was the son of Carria Bell Virginia Harvey Cochran of Soak Creek, and the late Isaac Basil Cochran. Mr. Cochran was an electrician retired from Slab Fork Coal Company and a member of UMWA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan and Roger Dale Cochran. Other survivors include his wife of 42 years, Ruth Webb Cochran of Sophia; two sons, Larry Edward Cochran and his wife, Norma, of Richmond, Va., and Tommie Dean Cochran and his wife, Zoanne, of Sophia; two daughters, Charolett Pack of Fairmont, and Melinda Bennett and her husband, Randy, of Bradley; a brother, Jerry Cochran of Sophia; four sisters, Shirley Redden of Old Eccles Road, Patricia Lovell of Soak Creek, Brenda Bragg of Raleigh, and Linda Lambert of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Born March 30, 1917, at Lester, she was the daughter of the late Marion Trail and Bertha Arbaugh Trail. Mrs. Crews was a retired salesperson in specialty sales at Kroger, Acme and A&P. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, past president of Raleigh Homemakers Club, former member of Eastern Star Beckley Lodge, teacher at the Shepherds Center, former Sunday school teacher at Memorial Baptist and had been a Beckley resident since 1945. She was preceded in death by two sons, Scotty C. and Carlos Crews Jr.; two brothers, George and William Trail; and a grandson, Charles Scott Crews. Survivors include her husband of nearly 63 years, the Rev. Carlos L. Crews; a son, William G. "Butch" Crews and his wife, Barbara, of Prosperity; a sister, Garnet M. Mrs. Eason was a graduate of West Virginia University and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Douglas Eason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Buck" Jones Jr., on Dec. 15, 1998; four brothers, George, Gilbert, Ernest and Augustus Calloway; and four sisters, Thelma, Bessie Irene, Marion, and Gloria. Kenneth O. Lilly MORGANTOWN - Kenneth O. Lilly, 91, died 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in a Morgantown hospital following a long illness. Born June 26, 1907, at Beaver, he was the son of the late H. Cleve Lilly and Caroline Sullivan Lilly. Mr. Lilly graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and West Virginia University. He served for some time as a geologist for the State of West Virginia, and during the remainder of his career was a professor with the West Virginia University School of Mines. He was a member of the Drummond Chapel United Methodist Church in Morgantown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Raybeck Lilly of Morgantown; a sister, Marjorie Lilly Mason; three brothers, Carlton A. Lilly, Roger Merrill Lilly and Glendon Lilly; a sister-in-law, Essie S. Lilly; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Mason and Leonard G. Sims; and a nephew, Wayne A. Lilly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Acie Logan, on Aug. 20, 1958; three daughters, Dorothy Mae Evans, Joie Ree Mason and Flora Logan; three sons, Acie III, Richard and Kenneth Logan; three brothers, Bill, James, and Elijah Evans; and four sisters, Geneva, Othelia, Gilberta, and Beatrice. Born Oct. 25, 1998, in Lewisburg, he was the son of Kevin A. and Rhonda Culbertson Pruitt of Hinton. Ralston had been a lifelong resident of Hinton and was of the Baptist faith. Born Oct. 12, 1921, in Radford, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert Mills Campbell and Annie Katherine Weaver Campbell. Mrs. Ramieh was former co-owner and operator of Ramiehıs Grill in Beckley. She had been a resident of Beckley since 1941 and a member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Thomas Ramieh; three sisters and two brothers. He was a member of the Coal Fork United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of American Legion Post No. 20. She lived her entire life in Beckley and was a member of Calloway Heights Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis, Bernard, and Truman Calfee; and two sisters, Ethel Calfee and Blanch Cox. Alfred Thomas SAN ANTONIO - Alfred Thomas, 64, died Thursday, April 8, 1999 in San Antonio, following a long illness. Mr. Thomas was a 40-year career serviceman, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a Senior Research Psychologist assigned to the Microwave Department, Naval Medical Research Institute Detachment, Brooks Air Force Base, Texas. He was known as the U.S. Navyıs premier expert on monkey handling and training. Among his duties was to serve as trainer/handler for the rhesus monkey "Able" and the squirrel monkey "Baker," the two monkeys prepared for U.S.ıs first space flight of non-human primates which helped to achieve the goal of putting a man on the moon prior by the end of the 1960s. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Henry Thomas and Nova Bowyer Thomas; his brothers, George, Dinnie J., and Bobby D., and sisters, Nora Mae Lafferty and Letta Lorena "Dinkle" Blake. Survivors include a brother, Raymond B. Thomas of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Roberta Faye Ruhl and Shirley Buckland of Elyria, Ohio, Aretta M. Lilly of Daniels, and Bonnie J.
