He was preceded in death by three sisters, Juanita, Ardith and Linda Brown; and one brother, Norman Brown. Shirley Mason Fraley Shirley Mason "Poodle" Fraley, 74, of Colcord, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in a Beckley area hospital following a short illness. Born Aug. 9, 1924, at Vanceburg, Ky., he was the son of the late Burl "Bee" Clifford Fraley and Mamie Beatrice Davis Fraley. He was a retired truck driver for Fraley Trucking Co. and a former employee for the town of Whitesville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Fraley; a sister-in-law, Louise Dominion; and a niece, Brenda Kay Bond. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer, where she served as a ladies aide. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilfard Gibson; five sons, Freeman, Ullie, Dewey, Roger and Lacy Gibson; one daughter, Delma Gibson; one brother, Sherman Osborne; one sister, Evie Osborne Gibson; and one great-grandchild. Born May 26, 1918, at Spanishburg, she was the daughter of the late Kelly Erskine and Myrtle Baldwin Wilson. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God faith. She had resided in Camp Creek for the past 25 years having lived previously in Baltimore and Beckley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry Lewis Mitchell, in 1985; two sons, Lewin D. Mitchell and James T. Mitchell; three brothers, Kelly E. Wilson Jr., David L. and Loren D. Mrs. Neely was a retired beautician, a member of the Big Clear Creek Baptist Church, Rupert, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rainelle. She was a longtime resident of Rupert and was currently living in Marietta, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, Olza O. "Boone" Neely Jr. Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Olza O. Neely Sr.; one daughter, Polly N. Blalock of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one son, Gene P. Lawerence Sparks Lawerence Sparks, 81, of Lynco, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at his residence following a long illness. Born March 14, 1918, in Tazewell, Va., he was the son of the late William Marcus and Hanna Mae Bandy Sparks. Mr. Sparks was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA 7692 at Lynco District 17 and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Sparks Brewster, and three brothers, Armster Sparks, George Sparks and Ed Sparks. Charles French Toney Charles French Toney, 73, formerly of Woodlawn Avenue, Beckley, died Monday, April 12, 1999, in The Southern California University hospital following heart surgery. Born June 14, 1925, at Maple Fork, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Janie Kincaid Toney. He was a lifelong resident of Maple Fork and Beckley before moving to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1978. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated from the Nashville Printing School. Mr. Toney served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He was employed at the Beckley newsaper. His last employment in Beckley was with BJW. For the past 17 years he was employed by The Mercury Insurance Group in Los Angeles, Calif. He had been a member of the Maple Valley Baptist Church at Maple Fork since 1936. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Grady, Herbert, Seth and Cecil Toney; two sisters, Dorothy Toney Meadows and Fay Toney; and a niece, Dorothy Williams. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Louise Joseph Toney; two sons and their wives, Charles French Toney II and his wife, Marie, of Newport Beach, Calif., and George Joseph Thomas Toney and his wife, Brandie, of Los Angeles; one grandson, Charles French III; four nephews, David, Charles and Jerry Toney and Dayton Meadows III; seven nieces, Betty Hartsog, Verna Hatcher, Jeanne Nigro, Mary Catherine Clark, Linda Toney, Carol Ertl, and Janie DeLung, and their families; a sister-in-law, Thelma Joseph Garrett; a brother-in-law, George Joseph of Los Angeles; and a host of friends. Born Jan. 31, 1924, in Scarbro, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Sarah Holmes Wilton Sr. Mr. Wilton was retired from Appalachian Power Co. of Charleston as an engineer technologist after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the Scarbro Baptist Church, Charleston Lodge No. 153 A.F.&A.M., Beni Kedem Shrine, Scottish Rite Masons, and the Elks Lodge in Charleston; he was also a veteran of WWII, where he served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Bowles Wilton, and his brother Joshie Martin Wilton.
