Born Dec. 12, 1912, on the Bluestone River in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late A.P. and Emma Eans Meador. Mrs. Basham was a homemaker and a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Jumping Branch. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Basham; two sisters, Uva Lilly and Dolly Basham; two brothers, Lloyd and Clarence Meador; and a half brother, Lark Meador. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Wesley Basham; four sons, Basil Basham and his wife, Lois, of Hinton, Willard Basham and his wife, June, of Baltimore, Leslie Basham and his wife, Carolyn, of Baltimore and Charles Basham and his wife, Gay, of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Shelby Hancock and her husband, Harold, of Baltimore and Eula Ratliff and her husband, Clinton, of Jumping Branch; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bluestone Baptist Church, Jumping Branch, with pastors Bill Fox and Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Crews Cemetery, Nimitz. Bragg Evelyn Stover Bragg, 75, of Arnett, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in a Beckley care center following a long illness. Born Jan. 11, 1924, at Marsh Fork, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Irene Hanner Stover. Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and a member of Arnett Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bragg. Survivors include two daughters, Dreama Bowman of Arnett and Elizabeth Hash and her husband, Roger, of Pineville; two sons, Arthur Bragg Jr. and his wife, Irene, of Illinois and James Bragg and his wife, Eileen, of Parma, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Billy Joe Gardner MARYDEL, Del. - Billy Joe Gardner, 55, formerly of Laurel Creek, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at his home following a short illness. Born Dec. 13, 1943, at Laurel Creek, he was the son of the late Hershie and Marie Elizabeth Fox Gardner. Mr. Gardner was owner and operator of a delicatessen and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Lee Gardner; and two infant sisters, Judy and Janet. Hager MINDEN - Eunice Elva Lilly Hager, 79, died Monday, April 19, 1999, in an Oak Hill medical center after a short illness. Born June 23, 1919, at Layland, she was the daugh-ter of the late Lloyd and Elva Martin Lilly. Mrs. Hager was a retired manager for the Polka Dot Shop, Beckley. She was a member of Minden Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the bowling club for the Loyal Order of Moose, Oak Hill, and Rebekah Lodge No. 36 of Quinwood. Mrs. Hager was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. Born Nov. 21, 1947, at Mount Hope, he was the son of the late Vincent Leo Sheehan Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Adlesberg Sheehan. Mr. Sheehan was field supervisor for Checkmate Communications. He was of the Catholic faith, a Skywarn severe weather spotter, member of Southeastern Repeater Associates, former board member for Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society, member of Chesterfield WYI Volunteer Examining Team, Special Olympics communications volunteer and former member of the Richmond Amateur Radio Club. He was a Vietnam conflict veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Linda M. Lee Sheehan; a daughter, Sandra E. Hudson of Chesterfield; three sons, Daniel O. Sheehan Jr. and his wife, Jennnifer, of Chesterfield, Charles E. Sheehan, stationed with the U.S. Army in Oklahoma, and Vincent L. Born Sept. 27, 1921, at Surveyor, she was the daughter of the late Pierce C. and Elsie Deck Clay. Mrs. Shrewsbury was a graduate of Trap Hill High School, received her B.A. degree in education from Concord College, Athens, and had retired from teaching in 1981 after more than 35 years of service in public education, having taught at Point Pleasant, Sandlick and Ceres elementary schools. She was an active supporter of the Concord College Alumni Association and was a member of Calvary Messenger Ministries Worship Center, Bluefield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andre Estel Shrewsbury; and two brothers, Ulysses and Harry Clay. She was a 24-year resident of White Oak, having previously made her home in South Amherst, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Leigh.
