Register Herald Obituaries for April 24, 1999 Elmer Bowling Jr. PINEVILLE ‹ Elmer Bowling Jr., 73, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Jan. 26, 1926, at Stevenson, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lucille Bowman Bowling. Mr. Bowling was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Sprinkle; three brothers, Virgil, Alex and Jerry Bowling; and a sister, Avanell Granewald. Survivors include a sister, Bonnie Elkins and her husband, Walter, of Pineville; a son, David Bowling of Billingham, Mass.; two grandsons; and one great-grandson. Graveside services and burial will be 11 a.m. today at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, with the Rev. Dave Adkins officiating. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville. *************** Anna Grace Cobb RONCEVERTE - Anna Grace Cobb, 84, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in a Charlottesville, Va., hospital following a sudden illness. Born Feb. 23, 1915, at Peterstown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Betty Jane McGuire Murray. Mrs. Cobb was a member of Ronceverte Baptist Church, vice president of the Mutual Improvement Club, treasurer of the Dorcas Bible Class, chairman of the Historical Room of the church, member of the church Womenıs Mission, volunteer for the Ronceverte Red Cross Bloodmobile, member of the Telephone Pioneers and was retired from C&P Telephone Co. with 40 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Campbell Cobb; a sister, Florence Elizabeth Peacock; and a brother, Harry Murray. Survivors include a son, Harry Thomas Cobb and his wife, Denise, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two granddaughters, Julia Ann Cobb of Waco, Texas, and Kelly Elizabeth Cobb of Virginia Beach; special friends and first cousins, Ernest and Mary Ellen Cobb of Ronceverte. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ronceverte Baptist Church with the Rev. John Zeboskey officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte.
