Register Herald Obituaries for April 25, 1999 Carl F. Compton SCARBRO - Carl F. Compton, 64, of Route 1, died Friday, April 23, 1999, in an Oak Hill medical center following a short illness. Born Dec. 11, 1934, at Long Branch, he was the son of Daisy Cadle Compton of Scarbro and the late Offeral Compton. Mr. Compton was retired from General Motors, Brookpark, Cleveland, a VFW member at Valley City, Ohio, and served two years in the U.S. Army during peacetime. He was also a resident of Bruns-wick, Ohio, for 20 years. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Compton. Other survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Blake Compton; two daughters, Marilyn Nagel of Lodi, Ohio, and Cathy Markuszewski of Valley City, Ohio; a son, Russell Scott Compton of Scarbro; two brothers, Russell Lee Compton of Scarbro and Charles Emmett Compton of Kendville, Ind.; and six grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Betty Lusk officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Dillion Jarrell Sylvia Lee Dillion Jarrell, 84, of Naoma, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 23, 1999, following a short illness. Born Feb. 16, 1915, at Sandlick, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nanny Rorrer Dillion. Mrs. Jarrell was a homemaker and a 58-year member and treasurer for 32 years of Naoma United Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the Eastern Star at Whitesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jarrell; an infant grandson; and two brothers, Vesper and Dewey Dillion. Survivors include five sons, Roger Hamilton and his wife, Maxine, Raymond Jarrell Jr. and his wife, Kim, and Raymond Jarrell Sr., all of Naoma, Lloyd Jarrell and his wife, Mary, of Rock Creek and Donald Jarrell and his wife, Bernice, of Surveyor; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a best friend, Melba Meadows of Naoma. David Allen Milam David Allen Milam, 28, of Cool Ridge, was dead on arrival Friday, April 23, 1999, at a Beckley hospital. Born Jan. 17, 1971, at Beckley, he was the son of Drema Atkins Milam of Cool Ridge and the late Donzie Milam. Mr. Milam was a former employee of BJW Printing. He served in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm and had been a Cool Ridge resident all his life. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Vernon Milam. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Hinzman Milam; a son, David Allen Milam Jr. at home; a brother, Dallas Milam of Cool Ridge; a sister, Donna Dean of Pax; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Rebecca Hinzman of Beckley. Born Dec. 14, 1938, at Scarbro, he was the son of the late Paul Sanchez and Elizabeth Kozma Sanchez. Mr. Sanchez was retired from Chrysler Motor Corp. in Detroit and was a member of the United Auto Workers. Survivors include his wife, Regina Lynn Rock Sanchez; a daughter, Megan Lynn Sanchez of Oak Hill; two sons, Charles Paul Sanchez and his wife, Debra, of Warren, Mich., and David Scott Sanchez and his wife, Jacqueline, of Clinton Township, Mich.; six sisters, Ann Ingram and her husband, Dick, of Florida, Margie Karua and her husband, Denny, of Wyoming, Elizabeth Kohn and her husband, Orval, of Minnesota, Linda Dreke and her husband, Delwin, of Tennessee, Katherine Hunstead and her husband, Dennis, of Minnesota and Eleanor Hamby of Minnesota; three brothers, Joe Sanchez and his wife, Ann, of Ohio, Michael Sanchez and his wife, Debi, of Colorado, and Frank Sanchez and friend Wayne of New York; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob and Rachel. Wayne Saunders, 89, formerly of Forest Hill, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at his home. Born Nov. 3, 1909, at Forest Hill, he was the son of the late Charles Ernest and Nannie Mann Saunders. Mr. Saunders was a minister at Pearisburg for four years and a missionary to India for 35 years with Evangelical Alliance Mission. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Streeter Saunders; three daughters, Beth Given of St. John, N.D., Ester Smith of Walker, Minn., and Dorothy Millner of Lynchburg; a son, Charles Saunders of Swaziland, Africa; four sisters, Reba Milburn of Lewisburg, Katheryn Rogers of Hinton, June Martell of Hillsborough, N.C., and Sue Healy of WaWa, Pa.; a brother, Joe Saunders of Hinton; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Born June 6, 1924, at Glen Jean, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Bowyer and N. Annice Crawford Bowyer. Mrs. Tompkins was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering and making button plates. She attended Scarbro United Method-ist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Theron -"Bud-" Bowyer and Leslie Bowyer; three sisters, Ina Holsonback, Hazel Bowyer and Mildred Bowyer. Survivors include two daughters, Ester Hinte and her husband, Cliff, and Yvonne Dempsey and her husband, Donald, all of Oak Hill; a son, Earl Rice and his wife, Diane, of Hopewell, Va.; five grandchildren, Derryl Hinte, Sheryl Elkins and her husband Dean, Richie Acevedo and Cindy Acevedo all of Oak Hill, and Regina Smith of Petersburg, Va.; and four great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Arora and Cheyana Smith of Petersburg and Anthony Stines of Oak Hill.
