Register Herald Obituaries for August 7, 1999 Paul Edward Deaver LERONA - Paul Edward Deaver, 44, formerly of Hinton, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at his home following a short illness. Born Jan. 28, 1955, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Herman Theodore and Lottie Belle Gill Deaver, and lived most of his life in Summers County. Mr. Deaver was a former supervisor for Easco Co., Berling, Conn., and a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include a daughter, Rebekath "Beth" Deaver Bennett and her husband, Russell, of Hinton; two brothers, Chuck Deaver and his wife, Jo, of Lerona and Bill Deaver and his wife, Vickie, of Hilldale; a sister, Edna "Kitty" Deaver Bragg and her husband, Bill, of Pence Springs; two nieces, Katlin Deaver and Kim Caudell; and a nephew, Jason Deaver. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Lynn Maddy officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery, Hinton. Jordan Stephen Maurice Antwan "Pooh" Jordan, 18, of Beckley, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. Born Nov. 17, 1980, in Beckley, he was the son of Mary Jordan and James Alexander. Stephen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in June 1999. He enjoyed playing basketball, football and spending precious time with his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his loving mother, Mary Jordan and companion David Reynolds of Beckley; his father, James Alexander of Lebanon, Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Bradley and Marquita Jordan of Beckley and Audrey Wallington of Brillion, Wis.; a brother, William Jordan of Brillion; four aunts, Bertha Lee Russell of Beckley, Marketta Jeneen and her husband of Brillion, Barbara Pirtle of Atlanta and Mary Payne of Detroit; three uncles, James E. Bradley and his wife of Kingville, Texas, Joseph Nickelson of New York and Samuel A. Cheatham of Jacksonville, N.C.; five nieces, one nephew five cousins who live in the home as sister and brothers, Lamont, Ricky, Derek, Courtney and Kenny Martin; and a host of great-aunts, cousins and friends. William Robert Riser OAK HILL - William Robert Riser, 77, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born July 15, 1922, at Dothan, he was the son of the late James Ottie and Mary Ann Toney Riser. Mr. Riser was a retired coal miner, having worked for New River Co., Stanaford, and a member of Carlisle First Church of God and the UMWA. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, Glen and Rodney Thomas Riser. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Leona Roberts Riser; a daughter, Carol Jean Lester and her husband, Earnest Keith, of Oak Hill; four sons, William R. Riser Jr. of Oak Hill, Johnnie Dale Riser and his wife, Marelene Alice, of Frost, Richard Arthur Riser and his wife, Delores Kay, of Oak Hill and Michael Blaine Riser and his wife, Shelley Renee, of Oak Hill; two sisters, Icie Riser Toney of Union City, Ohio, and Ruth Ann Riser Light of Oak Hill; two brothers, Jennings E. Riser of Beckley and Frank D. Riser of Lodi, Ohio; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. "Peteny" Brown Waller, 87, of Glen White, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born May 22, 1912, at Morris Creek, she was the daughter of the late William Brown and Nora Lawson Brown. Mrs. Waller was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Glen White. She was a member of the church choir, president of the Usher Board and secretary of the Missionary Society. She was a graduate of Stratton High School and attended West Virginia State College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Waller Sr., on Jan. 7, 1983; a son, Harold Lee Waller Jr.; three sisters, Anna Clark, Naomi Jackson and Clara Brown; and three brothers, William, Mancel and Earl Brown. Survivors include two sons, Lionel Waller of Beckley and Jarrett Waller and his wife, Sharlotte, of Baltimore; two daughters, Phyllis McGill of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Ardella Waller of Long Branch, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley. Rev. William White Jr. WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Rev. William Thomas White Jr., 66, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, in a Williamsburg hospital. The Rev. White was born and raised in Durham, N.C. He attended Durham City Schools and graduated from Apprentice School. He was employed with Newport News Ship Building for many years. After leaving ship building, the Rev. White worked on his own doing home repair. He was the minister for Calvary Baptist Church, Ordinary, Va., until he had to step down due to health reasons. The Rev. White preached at various churches in New Jersey, West Virginia and Virginia. Survivors include a son, William Thomas White III of California; three daughters, Joan White and Jenny C. White, both of Newport News, Va., and Jill W. Payne of Beckley; and a sister, Frances Carolyn White of Durham. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Section 17, with the Rev. Everette J. Smith officiating. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home, Durham.
