Michael and Rebecca Hammack Allen of Union. Mr. Allen was a 1990 graduate of Union High School at Union, was a member of the Sierra Club and was an outdoor enthusiast. He had spent the last two years in Columbia, Md. Amick NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Helen Jean Amick, 52, formerly of Rainelle, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1999, in a Nashville hospital following a long illness. Born Oct. 21, 1947, at Quinwood, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ellen Ruth Boone Sanford. Mrs. Amick had been a resident of Nashville for the past two years and attended West Nashville Baptist Church. She was employed at Sylvan Park Restaurant and was former manager of Pizza Hut in Rainelle. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Harold. Survivors include her husband, James Amick of Rainelle; two daughters, Elizabeth Ellen Hightower of Adolphus, Ky., and Robin Asbury of Marietta, Ga.; five sons, James Amick II of Calhoun, Ga., Kenneth Russell Amick of Hendersonville, Tenn., Kevin Lee Amick of Ringgold, Ga., Brian Michael Amick of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Stephen Anthony Amick of Rainelle; four sisters, Betty Roberts and Jeannie Sanford, both of Nashville, Joyce Myers of Bowling Green, Ky., and Ellen Miller of West Jordan, Utah; and three brothers, Eugene Sanford and Bill Sanford, both of Nashville, and Mike Sanford of Columbus, Ga. Arnold RAINELLE - Helen Maxine Arnold, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at her home following a short illness. Born Jan. 20, 1924, in Mount Solon, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Irene Stoutamyer McCall. Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker and a member of the Highland First Church of God, Rainelle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Arnold; three sisters, Evelyn Boyce, Kathleen Gray and Marlene Spitzer; four brothers, Lee, Jack, James and John McCall; and a stepbrother, Rankton Stoutamyer. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth "Bee" McQuain of Rainelle, and several nieces and nephews. Ralph 'Zeke' Darby ALLENWOOD, N.J. - Ralph "Zeke" Darby, 74, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at his home. Born June 28, 1925 at Epperly, he was the son of the late Blanche and Ralph Darby. Mr. Darby retired in 1985 from United Airlines ending a 40-year flying career. He was a naval aviation veteran serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He was among the first to land a ski equipped aircraft at the North Pole. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nancy Darby; two sons, Dana Darby and his wife, Lisa, of Manasquan, N.J., and Douglas Darby of Portland, Maine; three grandchildren, Zachary and twins Samantha and Sydney; a brother, Morris Darby and his wife, Dee, of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Wilma Perry and her husband, James, of Beckley, Mary Bucklin of Birmingham, Ala., and Barbara Manning and her husband, Robert, of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. Isom Clarence C. Isom, 73, of MacArthur, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Charleston hospital. Born June 18, 1926, at Besoco, he was the son of the late John G. and Virgie Vines Isom. Mr. Isom was a retired barber and coal miner, a member of Hollywood Missionary Baptist Church, UMWA District 29, Local 6108, worked at Slab Fork No. 10 Mine, and was a dedicated fisherman. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella Buckland and Jackie Isom; and three brothers, James, Earl and Ivan Isom. Survivors include his wife, Jean Logan Isom of MacArthur; two sons, Micheal C. Isom and wife, Polly, of MacArthur and Vernon D. Jayne Jr. OAK HILL - William Howard "Bill" Jayne Jr., 74, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in an Oak Hill medical center following a short illness. Born Oct. 19, 1924, in Bay City, Mich., he was the son of the late William H. Jayne Sr. and Frances Franks Jayne. Mr. Jayne was a retired personnel manager for Royal Coal Co. He was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and an usher. He was a member of the Charleston Lodge No. 153 AF&AM, Charleston Scottish Rite and was a 32nd degree mason. He was a member of Beni Kedem Temple AAONMS, Charleston, the Oak Hill Lions Club, past president of the Fayette Shrine Club and was a Civil Service commissioner for the Fayette County Sheriff's Association. Mr. Jayne was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Jayne. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wheeler Jayne; a son, William H. Jayne III and his wife, Jane, of London, England; a daughter, Missey Smith and her husband, George, of Mount Hope; four grandsons, George F. Smith III and Jason M. Smith of Mount Hope, William H. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Milam; two sons, Alfred Milam and Clade Dwier; and a daughter, Janet Simmers. Moye, 78, of Clyde Street, Beckley, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at his home following a short illness. Born Aug. 26, 1920, in Franklin County, N.C., he was the son of the late G.R. and Margaret High Moye. Mr. Moye settled in Beckley at the age of 7. He had been a resident of Clyde Street for the past 53 years and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and West Virginia Tech. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by WOAY TV as a broadcast engineer. He had worked for several TV stations in the area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Moye. Survivors include a son, Donald C. Stover Violet Elizabeth Maynor Stover, 73, of South Kanawha Street, Beckley, formerly of Craigsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born May 13, 1926, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Vince R. and Martha A. England Maynor. Mrs. Stover worked for eight years at Cadillac Division of General Motors in Detroit and she retired from the Lucas County Children's Home in Maumee, Ohio. She was a member of the Beckley Church of God and her favorite pastime was playing the guitar and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Porter Stover, on Aug. 21, 1990; three brothers, Garnett, Ofus and Louie Maynor; and two sisters, Opal Griffith and Ruby Wisnewski. Survivors include a brother, Howard V. Maynor and his wife, Donna, of Clear Creek; two sisters, Hazel Lilly and her husband, John Clint, of Clear Creek and Easter M. Mr. Waugh was a retired coal miner having worked for New River Co., Cranberry, and was a farmer. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the UMWA District 29. Survivors include his wife, Edith Arden Waugh; a son, James Waugh of Chicago; a daughter, Charlotte Reed of Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Alma Queen of Ashland, Ky.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
