Amick NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Helen Jean Sanford Amick, 51, formerly of Rainelle, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Nashville hospital following a long illness. Born Oct. 21, 1947, in Quinwood, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ellen Ruth Boone Sanford. Mrs. Amick was a native of Rainelle and a graduate of Rainelle High School. She had been a resident of Nashville for the past two years and attended Richland Baptist Church. She was employed at Sylvan Park Restaurant and was former manager of Pizza Hut in Rainelle. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Harold. Survivors include her husband, James Amick of Rainelle; two daughters, Elizabeth Ellen Hightower of Adolphus, Ky., and Robin Asbury of Marietta, Ga.; five sons, James Amick II of Calhoun, Ga., Kenneth Russell Amick of Hendersonville, Tenn., Kevin Lee Amick of Ringold, Ga., Brian Michael Amick of Goodletsville, Tenn., and Stephen Anthony Amick of Rainelle; four sisters, Betty Roberts and Jeannie Sanford, both of Nashville, Joyce Myers of Bowling Green, Ky., and Ellen Miller of West Jordon, Utah; and three brothers, Eugene Sanford and Bill Sanford, both of Nashville, and Mike Sanford of Columbus, Ga.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Kevin Lee Amick officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Cureton-Carson DETROIT - Joan Imogene Cureton-Carson departed this life Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Oakwood Hospital, Dearborn, Mich., following a short illness. Born in Mount Hope, she was the daughter of Martha Ann Smith of Mount Hope and the late Samuel Green Smith. She was the second of three children. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Glorious Church of God in Christ, Mount Hope, at an early age. She also attended and graduated from DuBois High School in 1948. Shortly thereafter she married Warren G. Cureton, who preceded her in death, and gave birth to six children. Along with her family, she moved to Port Huron, Mich., and later to Detroit, where she worked at Mark Allen for five years and Wayne County Community College for 20 years. She also received her associate's of arts degree from Wayne County Community College in May 1983. She married her loving and caring husband, Clarence Elliott Carson, on Aug. 3, 1985. She was a warm, vivacious, loving person who always put her family and friends first. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Smith; and a daughter, Janetta Favorite Cureton. Survivors include her husband, Clarence Elliott Carson; a brother, Truman Smith of Philadelphia; a son, Tony Giraud Cureton of Detroit; four daughters, Doncia Lee Littlejohn of Southfield, Mich., and Bonnie Ravana Mays, Kimberiea Ann Cureton and Angela Lynn Johnson, all of Detroit; three sons-in-law, Joseph Littlejohn, Jai Jaye Johnson and Jessie Mays; three stepchildren, Calvin Carson, Rudolph Carson and Michael Carson, all of Detroit; eight grandchildren, Michael F. Smith of Chicago, Candace Cureton, Traci Cureton, Joaquin Littlejohn, Cydney Cureton and Jalen Johnson, all of Detroit, and Brandon Mays and Sterling Mays, both of Baypoint, Calif.; a great-grandson, Isaiah Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Arrangements by Durgan Funeral Home, Beckley. Edward F. Fullerton DANESE - Edward F. Fullerton, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born April 11, 1915, in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of the late Albert D. and Mary J. Fullerton. Mr. Fullerton was a retired assembler, a member of the Elizabeth train club and also worked for Singer Sewing Machine Co. for 46 years. He was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, and he was the last surviving member of his family. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call one hour before services Sunday at the funeral home. Patsy Gay Stover Patsy Gay Stover, 88, of Cool Ridge, formerly of Clear Creek, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Jan. 31, 1911, in Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late John Ward and Eliza Stover. Ms. Stover was a housewife and a member of Ghent Church of God. She was a resident of Clear Creek most of her life, but for the past six years she was a resident of Cool Ridge. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil B. Stover; three sons, Cecil J. Stover, Dennis R. Stover and infant son Freddie Jean Stover; two daughters, Winona Lively and Lois Jack; five brothers and six sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Stover and her husband, Glen, of Cool Ridge; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Otis T. Clyburn, Jerry Lawrence and Vic Reasoner officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
