Born March 30, 1922, in Victor, he was the son of the late Pearlew Robert and Francis Bryant Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a retired Huse Memorial Park caretaker and attended the Bible Covenant Church at Prosperity and the Summerlee Wesleyan Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Lonker PINEVILLE ­ Joseph Green Lonker, 87, died suddenly at his home Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Born March 21, 1912, in Mabscott, Raleigh County, he was the son of the late John and Frances Stajduhar Lonker. Mr. Lonker was baptized at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Beckley. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He and his wife, Maggie, owned and operated the Cow Shed and the Shanty Restaurants in Pineville. Mr. Lonker was a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and the First United Methodist Church, Pineville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Spears Lonker; a son, Robert Joe; two brothers, John Lonker and Michael Lewis Lonker; three sisters, Donna Barthelmess, Mary Margaret Lonker and Frances Lonker. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Yaskowitz of Hollywood, Fla., Lou Ellen Privett of Pineville, and Kathy Bailey of Beckley; two sisters, Anne Lonker of Charleston, and Josephine Tolos of Clearwater, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Martin OCEANA ­ Nellie McCollam Martin, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born June 20, 1907, at Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Warick and Elsa Cutright McCollam. Mrs. Martin attended Davis and Elkins College, was a homemaker, and a member of the Pineville United Methodist Church. She was past president of the Pineville Womens Club and past president of the Castle Rock Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Martin; and three brothers, Jesse, Wesley and Raymond McCollam. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include a son, George O. Martin Jr. of Cross Lanes; a daughter, Shirley Martin Lugar of Oceana, with whom she made her home for the past eight years; four grandchildren, Mark Lugar of Beckley, Lori Steuble of Arlington, Va., Jill Newhouse of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joni Harris of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Hope E. She was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Shenandoah, Pa. Mrs. McCloskey was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. McCloskey. Survivors include two daughters, Gail Wheeler and Carol Ruleman, both of Oak Hill; two grandsons, Matthew Wheeler and William Taylor, both of Oak Hill; a granddaughter, Amanda Ruleman of Oak Hill. Born Dec. 11, 1942, at Lookout, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Ethel Parrish of Lookout. Mr. Parrish retired from the United States Post Office, Petersburg, Va., with 30 years of service, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Parrish, in January 1998. Survivors include a son, Mark E. Parrish of Colonial Heights, Va.; a daughter, Karen E. Snapps of Colonial Heights, Va.; five brothers, Lowell Parrish of Mount Nebo, John Parrish of Troy, Ohio, Paul Parrish of Charleston, Dallas Parrish of Plymouth, Mich., and Larry Parrish of Smoot; three sisters, Selma Tolliver and Diana Keller, both of Beckley, and Gretta Flanagan of Ravenswood; and seven grandchildren. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Leno A. Raso FERGUSON, Mo. ­ Leno A. Raso, 65, fortified with the Sacrament of Holy Mother Church, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Born July 15, 1934, in Eccles, he was the son of the late Antionetta Raso and Frank Raso. Mr. Raso was a graduate of Marshall University, Huntington. His 38-year career with the J.C. Penney Co. encompassed Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Missouri. He was very active in many community organizations including the president of United Fund in Washington, Mo., a member of the North County YMCA Board, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and a Eucharistic minister at Good Shepherd Church. He also volunteered with AARP and Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the BPOE, Kappa Alpha Alumni Association and active in both Marshall University and J.C. Penney Retirement Managers' Association. Mr. Raso was a devoted Rotarian for 26 years. He was past president of the Washington Club, secretary/treasurer of FloRo Management Inc. He was honored as a governor nominee-elect of District 6050 in 1997-98, but his health prevented him from taking office. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Adams-Raso; children, Shara (James) Erdie of Lafayette, Ind., Michael Raso of St. Charles, Mo., Cathy (Craig) Blum of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Megan, Karissa and Justin Erdie, and Anthony Overkamp; great-grandchild, Adrianna Erdie-Powell; brother, Frank Raso II of Columbia, S.C. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Walkup; and three brothers, Lemon, Homer and Bernie Walkup.
