Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Bright of America in Summersville. She was a member of Green Valley Homemakers Club and Quinwood Firemenettes. Born June 3, 1973, in Covington, Va., he was the son of Thomas Wayne Anderson of Ruther Glen, Va., and Mary Bowyer Castle of Fairlea. He was an employee of a cable communications network. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Lucille Bowyer, Dec. 27, 1997. Burk James S. Burk, 77, of Hinton, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Summers County Continuous Care Center at Hilldale, following a long illness. Born April 11, 1922, in Hinton, he was a son of the late W. Lindsay and Annie O'Brien Burk. Mr. Burk was a graduate of Hinton High School and Roanoke Business College and a retired supervisor for the WV State Department of Rehabilitation. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with SHAEF Headquarters in Africa and England. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Hinton. He was preceded in death by a brother, William O. Burk. Survivors include three sisters, Sara L. Smith of Hinton, Margaret E. Beavers of San Antonio, Texas, and Anna K. Thompson of Beckley; a cousin, Glen P. Fink, 70, of Old Pisgah Road and Princeton Health Care Center in Princeton, departed this life early Sunday morning, Dec. 12, 1999, at the health care center. Born Sept. 15, 1929 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Stokes Herbert and Thelma Lee Meadows Fink. Mr. Fink was a lifelong resident of Princeton, having graduated in 1947 from Princeton High School. Never one to sit idle for very long, he began working at an early age with the Old Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Princeton. He then started serving his apprenticeship on the Old Virginian Railroad in Princeton. The railroad was the love of his life; because of many cutbacks during his career with the railroad, from time to time he had to take jobs outside to support his family. He had worked for Celanese Corp. in Narrows, Va., Leggett's Department Store in Princeton as department manager and with Coppinger's Machine Shop in Bluefield. He returned to the railroad to finish his career in 1983 as sheet metal/pipefitter for Norfolk Western Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad. Mr. Fink was very active in his community, having been elected to the Princeton City Council for two terms as councilman at large and in 1978 was elected city mayor. He had for many, many years worked diligently along with Dr. Daniel Hale on the Brush Creek Watershed Project, having traveled to Denver, Colo., with Dr. Hale to accept the national award for such a program. He had served on many committees for the city of Princeton as well as for the Princeton Mercer County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Princeton Church of God on Oliver Avenue, where he had taught Sunday school classes, was a former Sunday school superintendent for several years and served as the Boy Scout leader for troops that met at the church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos Eugene Fink and Delmar Fink, and a sister Earnise Tanner. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of more than 50 years, Glemma Joyce Huffman Fink; children, Michael and his wife Judy of Charlotte, N.C., Rodney and his wife Joanie of Daniels, Kimberly and her husband Leslie of Princeton; grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Sarah, Sheena, Andrea, Leslie II and Corey; great-grandchild Austin; brothers Glen Melvin "Cotton" Fink of Norfolk, Va., Bruce C. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Directory, Princeton. ---------- Cynthia Ann Fredeking Cynthia Ann Maddy Fredeking, 95, of Hinton, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital at Hinton, following a long illness. Born Feb. 17, 1904, in Summers County, she was a daughter of the late B. Frank and Electra Woodrum Maddy, and was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Fredeking, July 22, 1978. Mrs. Fredeking was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hinton, where she was saved April 1923. Since that time, she had served as chairperson of every department of the Sunday school, chairperson of the Youth Group, had sung for many years in the adult choir, was a member of the T.E.L. Class and served as substitute teacher, former member and chairperson of the deaconess board. She was very interested in mission, organizing the Nadine Hinchman Circle and served as church coordinator and chairperson of Missions. She was a graduate of Concord College and West Virginia University with a master's degree and elementary principal's certificate. Mrs. Fredeking served schools in Summers County for 43 years, half of them as a teacher and the remainder as principal, retiring as principal of Greenbrier School in Hinton. During this time, she was chairperson of the local National Teachers and the Summers County Principal Organizations. Also, she was active in the retired teacher's organization and served as their chairperson, a member of the AARP and the National Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 5 for more than 50 years. Mrs. Fredeking was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Charles and Enola Saunders, Betty J. Keaton, Betty L. and Lloyd Whitlock and Frank Lilly, all of Hinton. Born Aug. 26, 1933, at Creamery, Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late E.M. and Flora Lawrence Simmons. Mrs. Frederick was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, for 25 years and had been residing with her sister in Hilldale for the past 21}2 years. Mrs. Frederick was a member of the Talcott Trinity United Methodist Church, The Trinity United Methodist Women and the Hilldale-Talcott Ruritan Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. "Bill" Frederick, and a stepdaughter Clara King. Survivors include her sister, Nola Lilly and husband Denver of Hilldale; two brothers, Charles B. Simmons of Middletown, Va., and Curtis Simmons and wife Edna of Toledo, Ohio; five nieces and five nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her very much. She operated D & D Furniture in Darien and attended Darien Church of God. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William O. Mr. Meadows was a retired materials management specialist for the Department of the Navy and was a member of Peterstown Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma F. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Ezra Brookman, in 1979. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bill R.
