Register Herald Obituaries for December 30, 1999 Claude Allen RAVENCLIFF - Claude Allen, 75, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at his residence. Born Oct. 4, 1924, in Glen Daniel, he was the son of the late Robert L. "Bud" and Ila Mae Allen. Mr. Allen was a retired superintendent with 29 years of service for National Memorial Park Cemetery at Falls Church, Va. He was an Army World War II veteran and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Gary Allen; a brother, Floyd Allen; and a sister, Cynthia Lafferty. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Manda Tilley Allen; five sons, Dennis Allen and his wife, Susan, of McGraws, Darrell Allen and his lifelong friend, Tammy Wills, of Glen Fork, Jackie Allen and his wife, Rhonda, of Sabine, and Claude Allen Jr. and Randall Allen, both of Ravencliff, four daughters Nancy Allen, Doris Allen, Donna Allen and Betty Bowman, all of Ravencliff, a brother, Sidney Allen of Ravencliff, three sisters, Ethel Ellen of Ravencliff, Mary Sams of Glen Rogers and June Philyaw of Beckley; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ravencliff Church of Prophecy with the Rev. Dale Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Pretty Ridge Cemetery, Saulsville. Arrangements by Evans and Evans Funeral Directors, Oceana. ---------- Genivee Hinze-Beall RUPERT - Genivee Elizabeth Elkins Hinze-Beall, 72, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va., following a long illness. Born Feb. 17, 1927, in Raven, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas William. and Carrie Ethel Dye Elkins. She married Gilbert Hinze on April 26, 1945, and lived with him in Wisconsin until his death in 1971. She worked at Flammable Plastics and the Warren Hotel in Wisconsin. She was a member of Smoot Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Lazar, and a brother, William T. Elkins. Survivors include her husband, Roy Lee Beall Jr., whom she married in 1974; three daughters, Barbara Combs of Baraboo, Wis., Tommie Sue Meiers and her husband, Jon, of Rupert and Cynthia Hunt and her husband, Ernie, of Richlands, Va.; two stepsons, Richard Beall and his wife, Mary, and Roger Beall, all of North Carolina; a special niece, Julia McKinney of Dawson, who was like a sister to her; mother-in-law, Mildred Beall of Ronceverte; two grandsons, Christopher Combs of Wisconsin and Zebulon Rouse of Tennessee; two granddaughters, Rebecca Wolfe of Wisconsin and Amanda Rouse of Richlands, Va.; four great-grandsons Nathan, Shayne, Tyler and Hunter Wolfe, all of Wisconsin; and four step-grandchildren. Eisenhower Drive (Pinecrest Nursing Home), died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at the nursing home following a long illness. Born June 5, 1944, in Lamar, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Elva Mae O¹Dell Mitchem. Mr. Mitchem was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three sisters, Georgia Hill of Columbus, Ohio, Ruby Harrah of Beaver and Jean Dorothy Moomaw of North Ridgeville, Ohio; two brothers, Roscoe Mitchem Jr. of Fincastle, Va., and Garland Mitchem of Utica, Ohio. Graveside services and burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, with the Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Born Dec. 21, 1924, in Dorothy, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Corba Ann Massey Pauley. Mr. Pauley was a retired coal miner and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include two sons, Richard Pauley of Beaver and Denny Ray Pauley of Lorton, Va.; two daughters, Lucy Stanley of Clinton, N.J., and Corba Hendren of Fredericksburg, Va., two brothers, Bert Pauley of Dorothy and Earl Pauley of Alliance, Ohio; two sisters, Norma Goodson and Elsie Ballard, both of Dorothy; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Born July 1, 1911, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Lorena Shawver Neely. Mrs. Richmond was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Hinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Richmond, in 1958; and three brothers, Virgil, Lawrence and Boyd Neely. Survivors include three sons, Robert Douglas Richmond and his wife, Janet, of Peru, Ind., Darrell L. Richmond and his wife, Willey, of Tampa, Fla., and Dean Richmond and his wife, Adela, of Princeton; five daughters, Jacqueline Richmond of Hinton, Jeanette Meadows of Peru, Ind., Janet R. Via of San Antonio, Yvonne Campbell of Hinton and Mrs. Richard (Drema) Edwards of Hinton, a brother, Nathan L. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Wood; a son, Melvin Wood; two brothers, Clarence and Leonard Ratliff; and a sister, Vivian Brown.
