Register Herald Obituaries for February 10, 2000 Terry Lee Combs LOST CREEK - Terry Lee Combs, 37, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home following a long illness. Born July 3, 1962, in Man, he was the son of Virgie Day Belcher and Bobby Belcher of Oceana, and the late Robert Combs. Mr. Combs was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Leann Combs; his maternal grandparents, Lee and Vira Day; and his paternal grandparents, Lee and Teenie Combs. Other survivors include his wife, Christy Combs; a son, Matthew Combs of Oceana; a brother, Kevin Belcher of Oceana; a sister, Cathy Harless and her husband, Timmy, of Cyclone; a niece and nephew, Tara and Jared Harless of Cyclone; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Oceana Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Born Sept. 5, 1944, in Glen Rogers, he was the son of the late Rat and Nancy Lafferty Daniels. Mr. Daniels was a coal miner with 33 years of service, working at Eastern Associated Coal Corp., Harris No. 1 Mines. He was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Barbara Phillips Daniels; a son, Jeffrey Daniels and his wife, Cynthia, of Beckley; a daughter, Kelly Daniels of Saulsville; four grandchildren, Brian Daniels, Aaron Daniels, Jesse Daniels and Wesley Daniels; three brothers, Lundy Daniels of Oceana, Henry Daniels of Ferrum, Va., and Gary Daniels of Eden, N.C.; and five sisters, Mae Bailey of Saulsville, Ruth Murphy of Ridgeway, Va., Ann Crowe of Bassett, Va., Nancy Perry of Brimingham, Ala., and Linda Browning of Beckley. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Revs. Lundy Daniels and Kenny Daniels officiating. Haynes LEWISBURG - Laurie Arbuckle Haynes, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Born Aug. 11, 1910, in Cass, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Julian D. and Anna McLaughlin Arbuckle. Mrs. Haynes had been a resident of Lewisburg most of her life and was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church and the PEO Sisterhood. She taught elementary school for a number of years at Cass. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Arbuckle. Survivors include her husband, Sheldon E. Haynes; a son, Dr. Edward S. Haynes of Rock Hill, S.C.; and a granddaughter, Usha Haynes of Durham, N.C. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Dexter Taylor officiating. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship for friends to greet the family in the church fellowship hall. Norosky OAK HILL - Nellie Chesunas Norosky, 82, died Tuesay, Feb. 8, 2000, in Hidden Valley Health Care Center, Oak Hill, from complications of Parkinsons Disease. Born Dec. 6, 1917, in Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Benedikt "Ben" and Jadwiga "Edna" Legonis Chesunas. Mrs. Norosky was raised on the Chesunas farm on Salem Gatewood Road. At a young age, she worked keeping house for a local doctor and also worked several years at Hotel Hill in Oak Hill before leaving the area to live in Chicago, where she worked in a factory. Upon returning to Oak Hill, she married Frank Norosky. She spent 62 years as a housewife. She lived, worked and raised her family on the Norosky farm on Summerlee Road. Being a person who loved the outdoors, she enjoyed traveling in her camper and spending the winters in Florida. She bagged many squirrels, rabbits and deer, and most of the time she was the one with the biggest fish and largest catch. She was an expert at picking mushrooms and greens from the earth. Nellie was a Christian. She and her husband were baptized in their farm pond in July 1996 by the Revs. Rudell Bloomfield and Louie Stegel. She was affiliated with Mountain View Church of God, Hilltop. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank Stanley Norosky, in 1997; a son, Frankie; seven brothers, Charles, Mike, John, Paul, Joe, Julian and Tony; and a sister, Ursula. Survivors include three sons, John Norosky and his wife, Peggy, of Whiteville, N.C., David Norosky of Oak Hill and Kyle Norosky and wife, Lesley, of Springfield, Va.; four daughters, Victoria Harrah and her husband, Jack, of Oak Hill, Aleta Hoffman and her husband, Greg, of Lancaster, Va., Dina Boggs and her husband, Roger, of Oak Hill and Cheryl Martin and her husband, John, of Inwood; three sisters, Anna Bias, Nancy Blake and Millie Motus, all of Oak Hill; a brother, Ben Chesunas of Barboursville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Church of God, Hilltop, with the Revs. Rudell Bloomfield and Randy Orndorff officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Wooldridge Margaret Louise Woold-ridge, 73, of Mabscott, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at her home following a long illness. Born March 25, 1926, in Skelton, she was the daugher of the late Lloyd E. and Susie Teel Walker. Mrs. Woold-ridge was assistant manager with the canteen service at the VA Medical Center for more than 35 years. She was a 1944 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) in Beckley. Her hobbies included gardening and crocheting, having won numerous awards at the West Virginia State Fair in both categories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe J. Wooldridge; and four brothers, Lloyd Walker Jr., Robert Walker, Jesse Lee Walker and Raymond Walker. Survivors include three sons, Richard Knuckles and his wife, Shirley, of Princeton, Thomas Knuckles and his wife, Nanette, of Fishers, Ind., and David Knuckles and his wife, Karen, of Covington, Va.; a daughter, Cathy Showalter and her husband, Gary, of Beckley; three stepsons, Dan Wooldridge and his wife, Sue, of Dallas, Mike Wooldridge and his wife, Lenny, of Stephensville, Texas, and Larry Wooldridge of San Antonio; three stepdaughters, Linda Morando of New York, Cathy Jo Byers and her husband, Don, of Glen Jean and Patty Flynn and her husband, Tom, of San Antonio; a brother, John Teel Walker and his wife, Helen, of Beckley; three sisters, Elma Allen and her husband, Bob, of Belle, Eileen Graham of Herndon, Va., and Sue Ann Ernst of Port Ludlow, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
