Register Herald Obituaries for July 8, 1999 Max Allen Sr. Max Allen Sr., 58, of Clay's Branch Road, Naoma, died Monday, July 5, 1999, at his home following an apparent heart attack. Born Dec. 12, 1940, in Naoma, he was the son of the late Mont and Inez M. Sumner Allen. Mr. Allen was a former employee of Armco and Peabody Coal companies and a retired employee of Goals Coal Co. at Sundial. He was a member of the UMWA District 17. He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Allen. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Nancy Jean Mooney Allen; two daughters, Cindy Hudson and husband, Rick, of Cherryville, N.C., and Carol Webb and husband, James, of Maiden, N.C.; a son, Max Allen Jr. and fiancee, Lori Showalter, of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Jean Williams and Arlene Clay, both of Naoma; grandchildren, Christopher Luke Allen, Andrew Dale Allen, Felicia Brooke Allen, Crystal Marie Hudson and Cassie Jean Hudson; two step-grandchildren, John Lawson and Corey Showalter. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with the Revs. David Cook, Drema Bradford and Ernest Rowe officiating. James Kessinger James Kessinger, 86, of 229 East Prince St., Beckley, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, in a Beckley hospital. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley. Andrea Erica Mills Andrea Erica Mills of Bero Avenue, Beckley, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, shortly after birth. She was the daughter of Michael Howard Mills II and Susan Renea Ward. Other survivors include two brothers, Joshua Eric and Jeremy Scott; her paternal grandparents, Michael H. and Susan Mills; maternal grandfather, Edward Ward and his former wife, Rhonda Ward; her maternal grandmother, Sandra Holliday and her husband, Thomas; paternal great-grandfather, Keyford Mills and maternal great-grandfather, Delmar Ward; and several aunts and uncles. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with the Rev. Gary Durham officiating. Friends may call 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to be at the funeral home by 2:30 p.m. today. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley. Mildred N. Nadiak Mildred Natilee Ferguson Nadiak, of Beckley, and Miami, Fla., passed from her earthly life July 4, 1999. Survivors include a son, Samuel Boris Nadiak III; a daughter, Nadia Nadiak Frey; a daughter-in-law, Lisa; two grandsons, Adam and Alexis; a granddaughter, Gillian; and a sister-in-law, Alice T. Nadiak of Buffalo, N.Y. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in Thanksgiving for the Rites of Passage at Manor House Apartments Community Room, 624 Johnstown Road, Beckley. Inurnment will follow in the family plot in Skelton, behind John Eye.
