Born Nov. 21, 1911, in Meadow Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha Flanagan Walkup. Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and a member of Meadow Bridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Bragg; a son, James Bernard Bragg; seven sisters, Elizabeth Peterman, Gertrude Griffin, Eva Kincaid, Grace Dotson, Zella Judy, Anona Clay and Georgia Rookstool; and two brothers, Jim and Oren Walkup. Survivors include a daughter, Thelma Heard and her husband, Carl, of Meadow Bridge; three granddaughters, Elaine Webb, Marilyn Hypes and Lisa Forren; a grandson, Jimmy Bragg; four great-granddaughters, Jennifer Rose Lilly, April Hypes and Carol and Meagan Forren; two great-grandsons, Adam Hypes and Joshua Forren; a sister, Goldie Rookstool of Rainelle; and a daughter-in-law, Josephine Bragg of Meadow Bridge. Arrangements by Smathers Funeral Home, Rainelle. Michael Daniel Michael "Mike" Daniel, 56, of Beckley, died Thursday, July 16, 1999, in a Charlottesville, Va., hospital following an extended illness. Born July 5, 1943, in Sophia, he was the son of the late Ivan and Sara Penturff Daniel. Mr. Daniel spent his childhood in Wyoming County. He was a graduate of Oceana High School and Morris Harvey College in Charleston. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in its security branch. He was well known in the mining industry throughout Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include he wife, Eloise Rice Daniel; and a son, Andy Daniel and his wife, Tammy, of Bristol, Tenn. Graveside services will be noon Monday at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with the Rev. Danny Winders officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call 10 a.m. Monday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley. Martin Graham Martin Graham, 62, of Maple Fork, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at his home following a short illness. Born May 28, 1937, in Louisa, Ky., he was the son Genoa Parker Graham of Greenup, Ky., and the late Billy Graham. Mr. Graham was a retired excavation contractor and of the Pentecostal faith. He was also a veteran, having served during peace time. Other survivors include his companion, Doris Evans of Maple Fork; two sons, Jimmy Graham and his wife, Kelly, and David Graham, all of Maple Fork; a sister, Mary Ellen Grubb of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, James Graham of Greenup; and two grandchildren, Logan and Devin Graham, both of Maple Fork. Helen Marie Hulvey Helen Marie Hulvey, 54, of Dameron, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Dec. 5, 1944, in Dingess, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Bessie McCloud Kirk. Mrs. Hulvey spent her childhood in Dingess. She was a homemaker and in her leisure time enjoyed camping and fishing. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Fay Kirk. Survivors include her husband, Roy Hulvey; a son, Everett Hulvey of Naoma; three daughters, Margaret Thompson of Naoma, Veronica Hulvey of Arnett and Chrystal Hulvey of Dameron; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie White, Melissa Webb and Michael Sacks; a brother, Julius Kirk of Chapmanville; and three sisters, Maudie Spry and Rose Lee Kirk, both of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Ruth Ann Vernon of Columbus, Ohio. Jackson KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Shelley Bennett Jackson, 94, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Jackson was a resident of Beckley for 29 years before moving to Knoxville in 1990. She was a member of West Knoxville Baptist Church and former member of First Baptist Church of Beckley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo J. Jackson. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Kangas and her husband, Dale; two sons, Robert Waldo Jackson and his wife, Nancy, of Knoxville and Charles Edward Jackson and his wife, Marilu, of Sumter, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Donald Richard Kirk LAPEER, Mich.- Donald Richard Kirk, 50, formerly of Minden, died Monday, July 12, 1999, in a Michigan hospital following a short illness. Born Jan. 1, 1940, at Minden, Mr. Kirk was a veteran. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Kirk of Minden; his wife, Carol (Painter) Kirk; two children, Donna Elizabeth and Kristy Linda, both of Michigan; and six grandchildren. Services were held in Michigan. Edith Marie Martin OAK HILL- Edith Marie Martin, 84, died Friday, July 16, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Aug. 28, 1914, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Wayne and Mary Alice Lilly Willey. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Martin; and a daughter, Alice June Burgess. Survivors include two grandsons, Eddie Ramsey and his wife, Linda, of Fayetteville and Gene Ramsey and his wife, Brenda, of Albany, Ga.; a son-in-law, Earl Burgess of Hilltop; four great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Graham Lee Phillips Graham Lee Phillips, 79, of Beckley, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Mobile, Ala., he was the son of the late William and Ethel Broach Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Phillips; a brother; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wallace Phillips; a son, Bruce Phillips of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Brenda Gregory and her husband, Douglas Anthony, of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Eugene Phillips of Indiana; three sisters, Imogene Padgett, Ester Thompson and Carol Hall, all of Indiana; and three grandchildren.
