Register Herald Obituaries for July 30, 1999 Frank C. Alley Frank Camden Alley, 88, of MacArthur, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born May 13, 1911, at Page, he was the son of the late John and Sarah Buckland Alley. Mr. Alley spent his childhood in Greenbrier and Fayette counties. He was a 66-year resident of Raleigh County, having lived in MacArtrhur the past 12 years. As a young man his work career began as a caddie at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs. He worked 18 years in the coal industry for Sterling Smokeless, retired with 30 years of service from the Raleigh Coca-Cola Bottling Works. Still working at the age of 88, he was employed as a courier for Engineering Services Incorporated. Mr. Alley was the last living charter member of the MacArthur Church of God Worship Center, where he served as the church clerk for 27 years and a church trustee for 54 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Manna Alley in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Virgie Elsie Robertson Alley; three sons, Charles H."Mike" Meadows of Cool Ridge, Kenneth M. Alley and his wife, Margie, of Beckley and Talmadge G. Alley of Beckley; three daughters, Patricia"Patty" Bennett of Boston, Nyla J. Maynard and her husband, Norvell, of Beckley and Rebecca"Becky" S. Stacey L. Angius OAK HILL- Stacey Leanne Angius, 13, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in a Charleston hospital following injuries received in an accident. Born Dec. 27, 1985, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Melinda Barton Angius of Oak Hill and Jack Angius of Oak Hill. Miss Angius would have been an eighth-grade student at Collins Middle School in Oak Hill. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Jones Avenue First Church of God and Calvary Baptist Church, all of Oak Hill. She was a member of the Collins Middle School C.R.E.W. and Pep Club and the Fayette County Soccer Association. Other survivors include a brother, Derek Angius of Oak Hill; her maternal grandmother, Ann Barton of Oak Hill; her paternal grandmother, Quinta Angius of Mount Hope; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mr. Edwards was a lifetime resident of Sophia, member of the Sophia Baptist Church and a retired coal miner with more than 40 years of service with Slab Fork Coal Co. Born June 10, 1928, at Wyco, she was the daughter of the late Thedore Pennix and Joetta Booker Pennix. Mrs. Harvey was a telephone operator at Southern West Virginia Clinic for 27 years, being formerly employed by BARH, and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Thelma F. Harvey; and a sister, Margaret Pennix. Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Harvey Sr.; two sons, James B. Haynes Therese Eileen Haynes, 50, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the home of her sister-in-law, Mary Martgaret Brillhart of Roanoke, Va., after a courageous 10-year battle with breast cancer. Born Sept. 28, 1948, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, she was the daughter of Thelma Hamer Dirckze of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and the late Victor Dirckze. Mrs. Haynes was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Beckley, and was retired, having taught Montessori Preschool at Children's House, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Beckley and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Oak Hill. She had been a resident of Beckley from 1969 to 1976 and from 1983 to the present. Other survivors include her husband of 25 years, Michael J. Born April 7, 1918, in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Jess Mullens and Bessie Mullens. Mr. Mullens was a retired employee of the city of Pineville, had lived in Conowingo, Md., since 1981, before living most of his life in Pineville, and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lowe Mullens in 1997; a grandson, Adam Mullens; three brothers, Virgil, Roy and Jim Mullens. Survivors include two sons, Walter J. Mr. Toler was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and was a timberman, having worked most of his life in the logging industry. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Full Gospel Church in Jesus Name at Lillyhaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Blankenship Toler; a daughter, Elvira Toler; a grandson, William Paul Whitson Jr.; three sisters, Erie, Vida and Sara; and six brothers, Johnny, Onnie, Squire, Aaron, Bedford and Luther Toler. Dr. Trent owned and operated a dentist practice in Mullens for more than 40 years. He was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Beckley, and attended the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Mullens. He was a dentist in the U.S. Navy.
