Register Herald Obituaries for June 13, 1999 Bedell P. Baker CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - Bedell P. Baker, 77, formerly of Ronceverte, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999, at his residence following a long illness. Born July 8, 1921, in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Jesse Peyton and Rhoda Mae King Baker. Mr. Baker was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church, Organ Cave, and served in the U.S. Army, receiving the Pacific Theater Medal with one Campaign Star, Good Conduct Medal and Silver Star Medal. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene H. Baker and Ralph W. Baker; and a sister, Betty Fullen. Survivors include a sister, Edna Hunter of Lewisburg; and several nephews, great nephews and nieces. Graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Monday at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, Organ Cave, with the Rev. Jim Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Jessie 'Tubby' Green Jessie "Tubby" Green, 81, of 1400 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Nov. 11, 1917, in Glan Morgan, Va., he was the son of the late William Green Sr. and Mary Coles Green. Mr. Green was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Dandridge Green; his second wife, Ruby Powell Green; three brothers, William Jr., Daniel and Moses Green; two sisters, Bessie Frazier and Elizabeth Evans; a granddaughter, Sheila Wade; two great-granddaughters; and a niece, Rita Harrison. Survivors include a daughter, Vera "Meadie" Gray of Beckley, with whom Mr. Green made his home; five granddaughters, Ruth White and her husband, Marvin, and Beulah Kyle and her husband, Marty, all of Beckley, Jackie West and her husband, Freeman, of Hillard, Ohio, Nadia Wallace and her husband, Guiseppe, of Norfolk, Va., and Mozell Hamby of Norfolk; two grandsons, Jessie Baker and his wife, Tonya, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Lonnie Hughes of Beckley; a sister, Minnie Stewart of Columbus, Ohio; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley, with Merrill Kopp officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley. Russell Lee Hyden CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Russell Lee Hyden, 64, formerly of Kingston, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, in a Cleveland hospital following a long illness. Born Nov. 27, 1934, at Kingston, he was the son of the late William Crockett and Lula Jane Armstrong Hyden. Mr. Hyden was a retired maintenance worker for Akron Standard Mold, Akron, Ohio. He was also a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1955, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Gray. Survivors include a daughter, Sherrill Sergeant and her husband, Mark, of Spencer; three brothers, Basil Hyden of Sophia, Carl Hyden of Scott Depot and Marshall Hyden of Cuyahoga Falls; five sisters, Virginia Davis of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, Gloria Wallace of Oak Hill, Joetta Light of Goodland, Ind., Lorrain Osborn of Bluefield, Va., and Mrs. Joe Milliken of Akron; a grandson, Madison Sergeant; and many nieces and nephews. Sammie Irvin Sammie Irvin, 100, of 104 Missouri Ave., Beckley, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born March 25, 1899, in Mount Andrea, Ala, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Tellis and Mary Jane Tellis. Mrs. Irvin was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Irvin; two brothers, Silas Tellis and George Tellis; and two sisters, Cora Tellis and Liza Tellis. Survivors include her caretaker, Addie Smith of Beckley. Services will be noon Monday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley, with the Rev. Jewell Ross officiating. Heather Leigh Kincaid Heather Leigh Kincaid died at birth at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, 1999, in a Charleston hospital. She was the daughter of Ruben James Kincaid and Karen Renee McManamay Kincaid of Shady Spring. Other survivors include two sisters, Heather Dawn and Megan Lashay, both of Shady Spring; grandparents, Sandra McManamay of Scott Depot, Paul and Lisa McManamay of Beckley, Charles and Vicki Kincaid of Irish Mountain and Margie and Dale Marcum of Shady Spring; and great-grandparents, Sally and Clyde Meadows of Irish Mountain, Laura McManamay of Beckley and Ina Lilly of Cool Ridge. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Meadows Family Cemetery, Cool Ridge, with Pastor Roy Owens officiating. Jerry McManamay and Brian Meadows will serve as pallbearers.
