Born Aug. 13, 1932, in Red Star, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Isabelle Bess Argabright. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Brethren of Oak Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Curtis Brown and son, Michael Brown. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Smith of Oak Hill; three grandchildren, David, Cory and Jacob Smith of Oak Hill; two sisters, Ramona Bradley and Gloria Osborne both of Calif; and one brother, Cecil Argabright of Modesto, Calif. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with the Rev. William Skeldon officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Top Cemetery. Born Sept. 26, 1913, in Mount View, she was the daughter of the late Elisha and Elisa Oaks Lilly. Ms. Farley was a homemaker and a member of the Mountain Valley Baptist Church, Odd. She was a resident of Odd for many years before moving to Maryland in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mason Farley; four brothers, Boyd, Elisha, Robert and Arnie Lilly; and three sisters, Stella Lilly, Amma Spencer and Polly Bell. Survivors include one son, A. David Farley of Bel Air, Md.; one daughter, Norma Bradford of Bel Air, Md.; three grandchildren, Rick Bradford of Chambersburg, Pa., David Farley of Perryville, Md., and Donna Kilpatrick of Bel Air, Md.; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gladys Britton Farrish Gladys Britton Farrish, 73, of Oak Hill, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Rebecca Adkins Britton. Mrs. Farrish was a retired stock room manger for G.C. Murphy in Oak Hill, a member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God and a volunteer with the Oak Hill Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Herman Farrish, on Jan. 19, 1972. Survivors include two sisters, Violet Wagoner of Tornado and Versie Green of Clintonwood, Va.; and three nieces, Barbara Farrish and Linda Richmond of Oak Hill and Fern Radford of Prosperity. Irene Bragg Grimmett SANDSTONE -- Irene Bragg Grimmett, 92, died Friday, June 11, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following an illness of one year. Born May 28, 1907, at Chestnut Mountain in Summers County, she was the first of nine children born to John W. and Elaine Laney Cales Bragg. Mrs. Grimmett had been a resident of Laurel Creek near Sandstone all of her adult life. She was a faithful member of the Sandstone Baptist Church, a member of the Summers County retired teachers association and was an avid rose grower and gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linus C. Grimmett, in 1976; four brothers, Hubert Bragg in 1924, Fred Bragg in 1947, Quincy Bragg in 1977 and Coleman Bragg in 1983; and one sister, Erma Waddell, in 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Lelia Kay Whipple and husband James H. Whipple of Chandler, Ariz., Clarlaine Sue Seals and husband the Rev. Robert J. Seals of Chandler, Ariz., and Harriet Lynne Gunter and husband James L. Born May 13, 1921, in Willow Bend, she was the youngest daughter of the late Nelson Goodall Bostic and Mary Pence Bostic of Willow Bend. Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, Ga. She was very devoted to her family and her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband James Hicks and a brother, Jack Bostic. Survivors include two sons, James C. Hicks and wife Eileen of Dallas, Texas, and Lawrence N. Hicks and wife Peggy of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Harrison, Jule and Tommy; two brothers, Claude Bostic of Conyers, Ga., and Rankin Bostic of Pickaway; a sister, Louise Martin of Conyers, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hurley was a retired coal miner at Lion Creek Coal Co. and a member of Minden Baptist Church. He was a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba K. Jones Hurley; and two brothers, Noah Hurley and Pete Hurley.
