Anderson, 81, of 1018 Greenbrier Drive, died 12:10 a.m., Monday, June 14, 1999, in a Hinton hospital following a short illness. Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Green Abbott Barton. Mrs. Anderson was a lifelong resident of Summers County, a former restaurant worker and a nurseıs aide at Summers County Hospital. She attended the Riverview Chapel, Hinton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland E. "Buddy" Anderson Sr.; and a son, Charles Beauford Anderson. She was secretary of the Shady Spring Busy Bees Senior Citizens Club. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Hall; and three brothers, Archie, Charles "Polly" and James Robert Bennett. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ernest N. Sonja Harris BIM -- Sonja Harris, 60, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, in a Charleston hospital following a long illness with cancer. Born July 15, 1938, at Barrett, she was the daughter of the late Monte and Ruby Harris. Mrs. Harris was a retired employee of Bradley Inc. and a member of Wharton Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford a daughter, Myra; a brother, Odell; and a sister, Christine. Arrangements by Handley Funeral Home, Danville. E. Elizabeth Henley Emma Elizabeth Puckett Henley, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at 11:11 p.m., at a Beckley hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1908, in Lansing, she was the daughter of the late Ida Large and Adam Puckett. Mrs. Henley attended Fayette County schools and was a graduate of Herndon High School. She married Fred Basil Henley in 1926, they lived in a half-dozen communities in the southern West Virginia coal fields before settling in Whitby in 1943, where they remained for the next 21 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; and a son, E. Dale Henley in 1965. Mrs. Henley had been a Beckley resident since 1964, where she has been cared for by her daughter, Elizabeth Sue and her son, Frederick, another son, William resides in Scottsdale, Ariz. During the course of her long life, Elizabeth was active in many community functions and was a member of the St. Maryıs United Methodist Church in Beckley for 35 years, where she served for three decades as a member and officer of the United Methodist Women, Church Women United and a Board and Auxiliary member of the Beckley Child Care Center. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Maryıs United Methodist Church, 2012 South Kanawha St., Beckley, with the Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Committal services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Born July 19, 1931, in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Elbert Gaines and Vestalana Neff Koontz. Mr. Koontz was a retired furnace operator at Elkem Metals at Alloy, a member of AFLCIO Union, and member of the Freewill Baptist Church on Salem Road. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Jane Koontz and Judy Ann Koontz. Born July 16, 1928, in Drews Creek, he was the son of the late J. Byrd and Margie Workman Miller. Mr. Miller was a retired electrician for Eastern Coal, Harris No. 1, Wharton, with 40 years of service, and was a member of the UMWA. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League. He was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Miller; and a brother, Virgil Anderson Miller. Judy Fannie Moore, 80, of 310 Worley Road, Beckley, departed her sweet life into immortality on Thursday, June 10, 1999, at a Beckley hospital. Born June 24, 1918, in Mt. Airy, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lou Joyce Moore. Rev. Moore professed Christ at the age of 9, and was called into the ministry of God at the age of 20. She was presently the Assistant Pastor at the St. Luke Church of God, Apostolic in Beckley and a Pastor of 10 years at the St. John Church of God, Apostolic in Slab Fork. She was a domestic engineer, giving unconditionally to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Vernon Moore on March 6, 1990; a son, Vernon Eugene Moore II; three sisters, Carrie Benzo, Lou Ellen Flippen, Rosie Johnson; five brothers, the Rev. Willie Moore, Elder John H. Moore, James W. Moore, the Rev. LoRanzy Moore, and Cobe Taylor. Born June 9, 1924, in Caldwell, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert H. Wilson and Doris Dixon Wilson. Mrs. Pettry was a member of the Clinton County Retired Teachers Association, the English Club, the Conservation Club, Mental Health Board, was a hospital volunteer, a member of the Wilmington First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where she was a member of the church choir and various other church groups. She taught school at Jefferson and Blanchester Jr. High and the Blanchester High School from 1963 to 1988. Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Born Aug. 20, 1954, in Mullens, she was the daughter of Edith Hall Daniels Miller of Brenton, and the late Graden Daniels. Mrs. Shadd was a member of the Brenton Baptist Church, and a 1972 graduate of Baileysville High School. She was employed as an equipment coordinator for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in Pineville, and a former employee of the First Community Bank, Robinson Phillips Coal Company and Island Creek Coal Company. She was an avid supporter of the Pineville Little League. Born Aug. 29, 1979, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Randall Nelson Stover and Vivian Gaye Honaker Stover of Big Spring, Ky. Ms. Stover was a member of the Methodist faith, a three-year resident of Big Spring, Ky., where she was a 1997 graduate of Fort Knox High School and editor of the yearbook. She also attended Western Kentucky University and was currently employed at UPS.
