Born March 26, 1913, at Indian Creek in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Mert and Hattie Jackson Beverly. Mrs. Ellis was a 50-year resident of Mullens and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Powell James Ellis in 1973. Survivors include three daughters, Linda and husband David Daniel of Beckley, Margie and husband Woodrow Martin of Mullens and Shirley and her husband Kenneth Noah of Lancaster, Ky.; one son, James and wife Yolanda Ellis of Beach Park, Ill.; two sisters, Gay Privette of Pineville and Noca Morgan of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jamie and wife Shari Christian, Jeffrey and wife Karen Noah, Dr. Leslie Ellis and Christopher Gomez Ellis; and four great-grandchildren, James F. Christian III and Adam, Katelyn, and Kylie Noah. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with the Rev. Brent Brown officiating. Arrangements by Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens. Marcus F. Eye Marcus F. Eye, 95, of Bragg, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born April 20, 1904 in New, he was the son of the late Caleb Lee Eye and Mary J. Garten Eye. Mr. Eye was a retired farmer, coal miner and former conservation officer and justice of the peace in Raleigh County. He was also a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and former member of the Raleigh County Rod and Gun Club and the Beckley Hunting Club. Mr. Eye was also the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by a son, Osbra Eye in July 1992; two brothers, John W. and Roy M. Eye; three sisters, Lola Calhoun, Lakie Forest Eye and Martha Louise Eye; and grandsons James Wayne Eye and Christopher Eye. Survivors include his wife of nearly 72 years, Myrtle S. Stacy Eye; two sons, Herbert F. Eye and his wife Joan of Grafton, Ohio, and James R. Eye of Bragg; a daughter-in-law, Naomi Eye of Bragg; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Corvan Elwood Fox Corvan Elwood Fox, 56, of Beckley, formerly of Sophia, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, following a long illness. He was a railroad worker, former coal miner and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. John Samuel Gabbert OLNEY, Md. - John Samuel Gabbert, 83, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in a Maryland hospital following a long illness. Born on May 12, 1916, in Renick, Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Jessie Wise Gabbert. Mr. Gabbert received his early education in Greenbrier County, graduating from Renick High School and earning his master's degree from the University of Maryland. He retired from Montgomery County with 32 years of service. Survivors include his wife Mildred of 61 years; two sons, John K. Gabbert and Barry R. Gabbert, all of Olney; one daughter, C. Kay Cohn of Pennsylvania.; one sister, Alice Tingler of Pennsylvania.; and one brother, Lacy Gabbert of Frankford. "Ned" Garrison, 86, of 322 James St., Hinton, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, in a Summers County hospital following a long illness. Mr. Garrison was a retired mill foreman for Swift and Company in the Agricultural Chemical Division in Norfolk, Va. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne in World War II. He was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Kiwanas in Hinton. Survivors include his wife Mary Sale Garrison; three sisters, Jane and Frances Conner both of Hinton and Eleanor Hannah of Houston; two nephews, Wayne and Robert Conner both of Hinton; and one niece, Nancy Hall of Houston. Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Oneida, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Knox and Ida Belle Smith Jeffers. Mrs. Hatfield was a resident of Itmann for 39 years before moving to Delaware in 1995 and into the care center in 1997. She was also a member of the Highlawn Baptist Church of Mullens and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband John "Scott" Hatfield in 1997 and one sister, Midge May. She was also a member of the Mountain Valley Baptist Church at Odd and had been a Josephine resident for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Bailey, her second husband, Velmer Lilly, and brothers, Harry, Jack, Junior, Frank and Thomas McDaniels. Mr. Stanley was a World War II Army veteran, a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and a member of the Rupert Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Stanley, George Stanley, and J.P. Stanley; and three sisters, Nellie Sowers, Curtis Richmond and Jessie Richmond. Vandall TUCSON, Ariz. - Harold Franklin "Boo" Vandall, 66, formerly of Beckley, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in his home following a long illness. Born May 2, 1933, in Danese, he was the son of the late Cecil Vandall and Margie Smith Vandall. Mr. Vandall was a retired employee of Magma Copper Mines in Arizona and a 37 year resident of Tucson, Ariz. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Tucson and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Vandall. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Janice Wood Vandall; a daughter, Catherine F. Meyer and her husband Dr. Robert F. Meyer of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, James C.
