Born May 10, 1913, in Sandlick, she was a daughter of the late William Jackson and Ellen Smith. Mrs. Barnett was a lifelong member of Sandlick United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the W.S.C.S. of the church and a former member of Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Glen Barnett, and 14 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include two sons, Steve David Bailey and his wife, Virginia, of Sandlick and Joe S. Barnett and his wife, Barbara, of Princeton; a daughter, Saundra A. Barnett of Beckley; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special friend, Katherine Kambouris of Beckley; and care givers, Sonja Belton and Linda O'Donnell, both of Sandlick. Born May 24, 1914, in Long Branch, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Madonna Armstrong Wriston. Mrs. Belle was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Bell; two stepsons, Lawrence and Stanley Bell; a brother, Odice Wriston; and three sisters, Alma Hitchcock, Goldie Martin and Gladys Dunning. Survivors include a son, Tom Bell and his wife, June, of Oak Hill; a stepdaughter, Edith Bell at home; two stepdaughters-in-law, Audrey Bell of Fayetteville and Maddie Bell of Salisburg, Md.; two grandchildren, Major Thomas G. Goldie May Moses NETTIE - Goldie May Moses, 81, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, in a Charleston hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 15, 1917, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Zena Green Beller. Mrs. Moses was a 47-year resident of Nettie, a member of the Church of Christ, Rainelle, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Wilson Moses, on Feb. 29, 1988; infant son, Billy Kyle Moses; her stepmother, Hattie Beller; and son-in-law, Bob Tincher. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara L. Newton LEWISBURG - Emma Hunter Newton, 72, died 12:50 p.m. Monday, June 21, 1999, in a Fairlea medical center following a long illness. Born May 14, 1927, in Renick, she was the daughter of the late Robert Guy and Addie C. Caraway Beard. Mrs. Newton was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, was employed by the Department of Human Services and retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy M. Hunter, in 1965; and her second husband, Stanley E. Newton, in 1997. Survivors include a son, J. Steven Hunter and his wife, DeEtta King Hunter of Lewisburg; a grandson, Dr. Joshua Beard Hunter, DVM, of Washington, Pa.; three sisters, Dorothy B. Hardiman of Belle, Nellie B. Born July 16, 1914, in Laurell Creek, he was the son of the late Elzie and Elsie Adkins Shuck. Mr. Shuck was a retired coal miner and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Della Velma Buckner Shuck; his second wife, Maycle Meadows Shuck; a son, Billy Junior Shuck; a daughter, Winifrede Parkulo; and two grandsons, Kevin Wayne Hanshaw and Ricky Wayne Redden. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include two sons, Charles Shuck of Piney View, and Daniel Ray Shuck of Daniels; five daughters, Frances Mae Wood of Chesapeake, Kathryn Hanshaw-Lopez of Bradley, Delores Ward of MacArthur, Ethel Janette Redden of Grandview, and Margie Elaine Miller of Beckley; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friends and family members. Thompson INDIAN MILLS - Stanfred L. Thompson, 78, died Monday, June 21, 1999. Born May 20, 1921, in Junta, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Cora Broyles Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired farmer and a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation. He was also a member and Deacon of Thompson's Chapel Church at Mandeville. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Mae Butler, Ethel Beckett, and Ruth Butler; and three brothers, Bail, Howard and Deward Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Christine Keatley Thompson; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Quesenberry of Roanoke, Va., Joyce Thompson of Indian Mills, and mrs. Eugene (Judy) Thompson of Buck Route, Hinton; a grandson, Edward Thompson and his wife, Beth, of Indian Mills; a granddaughter, Eugenia Thompson Brown and her husband, Buck, of Judson; a great-grandson, Caleb Thompson of Indian Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
