Mr. Basham was an employee of the Pepsi Bottling Plant in Princeton and the West Virginia Division of Highways. He was of the Baptist faith. Bennett HINTON - Willie Robert Bennett, 68, of Zion Mountain, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 1999, in a Princeton hospital following a long illness. Born Sept. 9, 1930, at Bertha, he was the son of the late Robert Isaac and Grace Florence Bonds Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Summers County and a disabled truck driver. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Lawrence Bennett; and three brothers, Russell, Raymond and Roger Bennett. Born Jan. 7, 1928, at Tug Creek, Summers County, he was the son of the late Michael H. "Mick" Breen and Louannie Reed Breen Ball. Mr. Breen was of the Baptist faith and a former member of Upland B aptist Church. He held several jobs during his life, including foreman on the Penn Line Service, the Radford, Va., Powder Plant, and her retired in 1989 from CSX Corp., where he worked for 25 years as a machinist. He was a member of IAM No. 551. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pvt. Luther E. and Mike N. Breen; two sisters, Lena Gaye Breen and Buela Breen Gill; and a half sister, Glenna Breen Bennett. Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker, a former employee of Beckley Manufacturing, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital and Southern West Virginia Clinic. She was a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Campbell; two brothers, Forrest and Bill Ewing; four sisters, Hannis Johnson, Myrtle Todd, Vergie Ewing and Zelia Whiting; and a grandchild, Shane Campbell. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Michael L. Coughlin SPRING DALE - Michael Lawrence "Mike" Coughlin, 103, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at Rupert following a short illness. Born June 2, 1896, at Spring Dale, he was the second son of the late Wil-liam Lee and Mary Frances McGillicuddy Coughlin. Mr. Coughlin was a lifelong resident of Spring Dale. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Dale, on July 19, 1896. He attended Maude Chapel Methodist Church, Grassy Meadows. He was retired from Quillen's Lumbermill, Smoot, where he worked as a logger. He also worked at Bika's Slaughterhouse and as a blacksmith for the Crosier Mine and on the Deitz farm. He was a farmer, and he broke and trained horses. He logged timber off of Muddy Creek Mountain, Big Mountain and at Kieffer. He owned Mike's Stand at the West Virginia State Fair for about 44 years. He married Flora Jane Anderson on Oct. 15, 1915, in Washington Court House, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1978, after 63 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by three daughters, Opal Lorene Robertson, Mary Emma Huntsenpillar and Shelby Jean Coughlin, infant; four sons, John Alvin Coughlin, Michael Lake "Junior" Coughlin, James Neal Coughlin and Ira Thomas Coughlin, infant; a sister, Sarah Ellen McClung Hawkins; five brothers, Cornelius "Neal" Coughlin, John Coughlin, James Coughlin, Patrick Coughlin and Houston Coughlin; a grandson, Bernard P. Franklin; two great-granddaughters, Tammy Coughlin and Christy Ann Dunn; and a stepgreat-grandson, Brian Hedrick. McCoy Duplantis, 79, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Nov. 12, 1919, at Valls Creek, she was the daughter of the late Doliver and Myrtle Fitspatrick McCoy. Mrs. Duplantis was a retired photo shop manager in Waveland, Miss., and a World War II veteran, having served as a nurse with the Women's Army Corps. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Duplantis; three brothers, Carl, Noah and Everett McCoy; and six sisters, Molly Clemons, Lucille Beavers, Marie Millsap, Juanita White, Dorothy Honaker and Arbutus Kingdollar. Mrs. Farley was a homemaker, a member of Old Path Primitive Baptist Church and had been a Cool Ridge resident most of her life. She was a devoted grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Farley; a daughter, Gladys I. Setliff; a granddaughter, Vickie Diane Pack; four brothers, Oris, Oliver, Floyd and Prince Lilly; and three sisters, Orpha Hatcher, Oakley Basham and Margaret Hatcher. Born April 22, 1930, at Irish Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Claude James Meadows and Mossie Eunice Payne Meadows. Mrs. Ferrell worked for the U.S. Postal Service at Clothier for 35 years until she retired and moved to Beckley in 1994. She was a Christian and a vibrant independent person who loved to garden, cook and can. Kirk POWELL, Ohio - Charles E. Kirk, 58, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999. Born May 24, 1941, at Kopperston, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ruth Marcum Kirk. Mr. Kirk was a Vietnam Conflict veteran and had a long career in the shoe business. At the time of his death, he was employed by American Sporting Goods and was a life time member of the Two/Ten International Footwear Foundation.
