Dorothy Marie Bragg Dorothy Marie Bragg, 76, of Minden, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Flossie Belle Delay Roach. She was a retired medical records secretary for Pinecrest Hospital, Beckley. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Bragg; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Roach. Survivors include a son, Dennis D. Larsen of Weare, N.H.; three grandchildren, Michael H. Larsen of New Market, N.H., Deborah Thomas of San Angelo, Texas, and Christine Mousseau of Keene, N.H.; and three great-grandchildren. Born Jan. 24, 1914, in Abington, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Walker Minton and Nannie Davis Minton. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wiley V. Cullop Sr.; and a son, John David Cullop Sr., in September 1993. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. W.C. Combs of Sophia; seven sons and eight daughters, Wiley V. Alma Lee Hearn MULLENS - Alma Lee Hearn, 74, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, in her home following a long illness. Born Jan. 20, 1925, at Mullens, she was the daughter of the late John Pettett and Bertha Bottoms Pettett. Mrs. Hearn was a lifelong resident of Mullens and a member of the Mullens United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, A.R. Hearn; and a son, Robert Hearn of Roanoke, Va. Committal and entombment services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton with the Rev. Brent Brown officiating. Milam Sr. Luther James "Ruggie" Milam Sr., 75, of Stanaford, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born June 21, 1924, at Saxton, he was the son of the late Lewis and Emily Stewart Milam. Mr. Milam was a retired coal miner having retired from Siltix Mines of New River Co. He was a member of Chestnut Knob Christian Church at Layland and American Legion Post No. 32 in Beckley. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a former P.O.W. and was combat wounded and awarded the Purple Heart along with other medals. He was also a member of the UMWA district 29 and a member of the V.F.W. Post 3110 of Oak Hill. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cena Sanger, Elsie Milam and Nellie Kerr; and seven brothers, Dennis, Blaine, John, Wirt, Ray, Ward and Arlie Milam. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Glenna Mae Bennett Milam of Stanaford; one daughter, Bonita Kay Holtzapfer of Beaver and son-in-law, Frank Holtzapfel of Stanaford; two sons, Luther J. "Buddy" Milam and wife Tonya of Georgetown, Del., and Kenneth Ray Milam; four grandsons, Michael Holtzapfel and wife Christie of Stanaford, Christopher Holtzapfel, Shawn Milam and Jeremy Milam; two granddaughters, Amber Milam and Lorie Bak and her husband Todd; one great-granddaughter, Hope Holtzapfel; and two great-grandsons, Tyler and Jacob Bak. Born Jan. 9, 1911, in El Paso, Wis., he was the son of the late Ole O. and Nettie Iverson Steen. Mr. Steen was formerly co-owner of Steen-Miller Inc., Automobile Agency, a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Shirley Donnelley Bible Class, former chairman of the board of trustees, president and chairman of the board of One Valley Bank, a member of the Oak Hill Rotary Club, past president and Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, a member and former president of the White Oak Country Club. Mr. Steen was also a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Betty Mcardle Steen, and two daughters, Lisa Mcardel Mateboer and her husband Johannes Mateboer of Orlando, Fla., and Sandra Mcardle Crook and her husband William Crook of Matthews, N.C. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David White officiating. Burial will follow at Highlawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
