Register Herald Obituaries for June 30, 1999 Thaddeus Andrews LEWISBURG - Thaddeus Andrews, 88, died 1:40 p.m., Friday, June 25, 1999, in a Fairlea hospital following a long illness. Born March 16, 1911, in Caldwell, he was the son of the late Price and Georgia Williams Andrews. Mr. Andrews was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men. He retired from The Greenbrier after 26 years of service. He also was an employee of the Greenbrier Insurance Agency for more than 20 years and The State Fair of West Virginia for 30 years. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mamie Gardner, Frances Turner, Gladys Freeman and Pauline Andrews; a brother, Luther Andrew; and two half brothers, Condyke Williams and John Williams. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Annie C. Andrews; two sons, Bryant O'Dell Cyrus of Dunbar and Tony Andrews of Lewisburg; three daughters, Maxine Williams of Lewisburg, Margie Law of Wheeling and Gloria Crump of Roanoke, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the John Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Irma Cabiness officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg. Cohenour WHARNCLIFFE - Thomas Grover Cohenour, 75, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Blue Sulphur Springs, he was the son of the late Cass Andrew and Elsie Bryant Cohenour. Mr. Cohenour was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Viola Brown Cohenour; a son, Charles Lee Cohenour; two brothers, Frank and Kenny Cohenour; and four sisters, Mabel Hamrick, Glenna Hamrick, Ethel Wade, and Nannie Stanley. Survivors include two sons, Mark and Carl Cohenour, both of Wharncliffe; five daughters, Mary Jane Dotson and Betty Dotson, both of Wharncliffe, Diana New of Fort Meade, Fla., Marsha Stevens of Pineville, and Angela England of Charleston; three brothers, Granville Cohenour of Pennsylvania, Dale Cohenour of Wharncliffe, and Arthur Cohenour of Fairlea; three sisters, Betty Ellis of Gilbert, Dora Hamrick of Alderson, and Rosetta Ferguson of Oceana; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Lancer 'Red' Cozort OCEANA - Lancer 'Red' Cozort, 80, formerly of Belding, Mich., died Monday, June 28, 1999, in a Beckley medical center following a short illness. Born May 25, 1919, in Tipple, he was the son of the late Payton Cozort and Eva Shumate Cozort Cook. Mr. Cozort was a retired plant worker having worked for Indian Summer Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Medal and four Bronze Battle Stars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Cozort; two brothers, Argyle and Oswald Cozort and a sister, Elda Cozort Manning. Survivors include four sons, Brian, Phillip, Alan and Greg Cozort, all of Greenville, Mich.; two daughters, Lillian Silverthorn of Montville, Conn., and Virginia Cozort of Greenville, Mich.; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Irene Buffa Harvey Irene Buffa Harvey, 77, of Bishop Street, Beckley, died Monday, June 28, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Stanaford, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Toth Buffa Sr. Mrs. Harvey spent her childhood in Callaway Heights and was a 1939 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a retired public accountant and a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was also a past member of several civic organizations and an avid bowler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Harvey in 1994; two brothers, Joseph and George Buffa Jr.; and a sister, Lila Buffa. Survivors include three sons, William Rose of Beckley, Harry Harvey and his wife, Clara, of Portage, Ind., and Eugene Harvey Jr. and his wife, Terry, of Beckley; a daughter, Mrs. Cotton (Gee Gee) Wood of Beckley; three sisters, Mary Bourgeois of Raleigh, N.C., Julia Anne Patterson and her husband, William, of Mount Hope, and Elizabeth Mayhugh and her husband, Tom, of Pensacola, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Richmond "Catbird" Wheeler. Survivors include her daughter, Mabel G.
