Register Herald Obituaries for March 7, 2000 Virginia C. Bazzie PINEVILLE - Virginia C. Bazzie, 82, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her home. Born March 29, 1917, in Pineville, she was the daughter of the late J. Carl and Fonna Musick Cook. Mrs. Bazzie was a homemaker, a charter member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amerigo Bazzie; and two brothers, James Qwentin and Thomas Edward Cook. Survivors include a son, Mike Bazzie and his wife, Virginia M., of Pineville; a daughter, Sherry Adams and her husband, Joseph, of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Beulah Kerner and her husband, Bill, of Baltimore; two brothers, David Cook and his wife, Elizabeth, of North Carolina and Musick Cook of Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Kenneth "Kenny" Bazzie, Hilary J. Adams, Rosalynd L. Jensen and her husband, Richard, Meredith Virginia Adams and Christopher A. Bazzie. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Clay Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Princeton. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Belcher CLEVELAND - James Elden Belcher, 64, formerly of Glen Rogers, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in a Cleveland hospital following a sudden illness. Born Feb. 16, 1936, in Glen Rogers, he was the son of the late Elden Belcher and Chloe Nester Belcher. Mr. Belcher was employed by Waco International of Cleveland for more than 40 years. He spent his childhood in Wyoming County and had been a resident of Cleveland for more than 40 years. He was an avid golfer in his leisure time. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Belcher of Elkhorn City, Ky. Survivors include his wife, Irene Oszvart Belcher; two brothers, Johnny Belcher and his wife, Nancy, and Joe Belcher and his wife, Veronica, all of Glen Rogers; and six sisters, June Tolor and her husband, Jim, of Silver Spring, Md., Jean Snuffer of Glen View, Judy Cordell and her husband, Tim, of Midland, N.C., Janella Bailey and her husband, Mike, of Glen Fork, Janis Hope Miller and her husband, Gary, of Glen White and Joanne Hutsenpillar of Union Hall, Va. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Kenneth Parent officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers. Black OREGON, Ohio - Jerry A. Black, 47, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, after a sudden illness. Born April 25, 1952, in Hurricane, he was the son of the late James Woodrow and Mildred Null Black. Mr. Black was of the Baptist faith, an iron worker and a member of the local Union Building Trades No. 201, Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald June Black. Survivors include two sisters, Betty J. Karst of Columbia, S.C., and Charlotte A. Cordle of Rutledge, Tenn.; six brothers, James D. Black of Florida, Milton L. Black of Alderson, Charles R. Black of Gainsville, Va., Kenneth W. Black of Dallas, Alvin B. Black of Aiken, S.C., and Perry D. Black of Morristown, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
