Dixon RAINELLE - Walter Clarence Dixon, 89, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Va., following an extended illness. Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Alderson, he was the son of the late Walter Edward and Mary Catherine Martin Dixon. Mr. Dixon was retired from Meadow River Lumber Co. in Rainelle and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Daye Bennett, in 1983; a son, Walter Carl Dixon; a sister and five brothers. Survivors include six daughters, Mary Imogene Fox of Hopewell, Va., Violet Catherine Castle of Newport News, Va., Ava Lucille Campbell of Damascus, Md., Velva Leona Phillips of Alderson, Bonnie Sue Killen of Meadow Bridge and Carolyn Ann Brown of Hopewell; a son, Clarence Lee Dixon of Meadow Bridge; two sisters, Reva Bennett Kashola of Leivasy and Violet Judy of Lewisburg; numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with Bishop Clarence Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Honaker ALDERSON - Axie Virginia Childers Honaker, 86, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness. Born June 23, 1913, at Little Creek, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Della Perry Childers. Mrs. Honaker was a retired nursing assistant, having retired from Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, in 1988 after 25 years of service. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Meth-odist Church, Alderson, where she was a member of the Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Issac Powell Honaker; two sons, Donald Honaker and David Honaker; a brother, Thurmond Childers; and a son-in-law, Harry Wills. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Akers and her husband, Tom, of Hinton; two sons, Tom Honaker and his wife, Candy, of Johnson City, Tenn., and Randy Honaker and his companion, Brenda, of Fairlea; two sisters, Gladys Childers of Roanoke, Va., and Melba Stubbs of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Margaret Childers of Beckley; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Keaton, 93, of Shady Spring, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center following a long illness. Born May 5, 1906, in Wingrove, she was the daughter of the late Eldon M. and Virginia Weese Jones. Mrs. Keaton was a member of Open Door Baptist Church, Shady Spring, and the OES, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ozvil Dillard Keaton. Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Eckler of Lewisburg; two sons, Ronald L. Keaton of Morgantown and Ralph C. McDaniel, 89, of 103 Terry Ave., died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Hilltop nursing home following a long illness. Born April 30, 1910, in Stone Cliff, she was the daughter of the late Willard Lewis McDaniel and Jessie Lee Crowder McDaniel. Ms. McDaniel was a graduate of Mount Hope High School, a homemaker and a retired nurse from Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Toutloff. Survivors include four children, Joan Stanley and her husband, Cliff, of Los Angeles, Jean Rae Lewis and her husband, Jack, of Oak Hill, Donald McDaniel and his wife, Norma Jean, of Oak Hill and Charles McDaniel and his wife, Sue, of Fayetteville; two sisters, Helen Bunch of Hurricane and Bobbie Ball of Oak Hill; three brothers, William McDaniel of Taylor, Mich., Tom McDaniel of Laurel, Md., and Buck McDaniel of Hurricane; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. McGuire, 67, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at his home following a long illness. Born April 27, 1932, in Amigo, he was the son of Ola M. Ellis Mc-Guire of Beckley and the late Carl H. McGuire Sr. Dr. McGuire attended Virginia Tech and Marshall University and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. He was a life member of the Masons, West Virginia Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. He practiced optometry in Wyom-ing County for 44 years. He was a member of Pine-ville First United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela; and a daughter, Kathleen. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Loveda Mc-Guire; three daughters, Lynda Alexander and her husband, Dennis, of Cape Coral, Fla., Teresa Sparks and her husband, Steve, of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Donna Stiltner and her husband, Jerry, of Ral-eigh, N.C.; a son, Michael Hou-ston McGuire of Charleston; two sisters, Carol Tanner and her husband, John, of Midway and Ramona Ison and her husband, Dell, of Reston, Va.; eight grandchildren, Roni Kaye Redd, John Houston Hudkins, Leigh Anne Alexander, Robert Casey Alexander, Jessica Dawn Stiltner, Pamela Reneé Stiltner, Daniel Ryan Stiltner and Lela Michelle Sindle; two great-grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews; and his loyal employees, Marlene Daniels, Laura Ellis and Doris Brown. McNeel FISHERSVILLE, Va. - William L. "Bill" McNeel, of 112 New Brunswick Road, formerly of Pocahontas County, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, following a long illness. Born May 7, 1917, at Locust Creek, Pocahontas County, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Nora Kidd McNeel. Mr. McNeel was an employee of the state road for 17 years, and in 1960 he took over the operation of McNeel Dairy Farm in Asbury. In 1973, Mr. McNeel, along with his wife, Frances, were selected as the West Virginia Farmers Home Administration Outstanding Farm Family of the Year. He was a member of United Meth-odist churches in Asbury and Fishersville and Ruritan clubs in Asbury and Fishersville and was a charter member of the Ruritan Club in Williamsburg. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Cooper McNeel; five children, Tom of Lenoir, N.C., JoAnne Brown of Bridgeport, Ed of Corbin, Ky., Carol Buckalew of Charleston and Marey Baker of Fishersville; two sisters, Louise Parker of Lewisburg and Jean Barber of Miami; his grandchildren, Misty, Pam, Mac, Mendy, Mel-ody, Kim, Matt, Tommy, Jennifer, Jamie, Chanda, Amanda, Tim, John and Sarah; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Cook Sr.; her second husband, Warner Miller; and a daughter, Christine Furgess. Fayette St., Beckley, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following a long illness. Born July 6, 1925, in Iae-ger, he was the son of the late James Robert Thurman and Nora Evelyn Wood Thurman. Mr. Thurman had lived in Beckley most of his life. He was a retired office employee for Petroleum Products in Beckley. He was a member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church. He was a certified lay speaker for the Methodist Church and a lifetime member of United Meth-odist Men. He was a former volunteer at the Beckley Veterans Administration hospital, where he was a Chapel Volunteer of the Year. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Damon Thurman. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, June Fitzgerald Thurman; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, Beckley, with the Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
