Register Herald Obituaries for May 6, 1999 Jack Collins BRENTON - Jack Collins, 79, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Feb. 8, 1920, in Goings, Tenn., he was the son of the late Charlie and Mary Capps Romaines Collins. Mr. Collins was a disabled coal miner, was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of Wyoming County since 1940. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harless Collins; and three sisters, Maria Speaks, Juanita Macberry and Nora Bussells. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dolly Blankenship Collins; a son, Jack Collins; two daughters, Linda Sue Collins and Debbie Collins, both of Brenton; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Eva) Bailey; two nieces, Lennia Harrah of Clintonville and Jean Cook of Strasburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Dylan and Kaley Bailey; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Eugene C. Hayes LEWISBURG - Eugene C. Hayes, 79, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in a Roanoke, Va., hospital. Born June 27, 1919, at Renick, he was the son of the late Fred James and Carrie Brown Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church and was a life member of the VFW. He was past member of the Lions Club and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Eugene Hayes; two sisters, Madelinne Hayes Wolfenbarger and Mary Frances Hayes; and a brother, Garland "Cokey" Hayes. Survivors include his wife, Anna Louise Gee Hayes; a daughter, Sharon A. Hayes and her husband, Dennis James Parrucci, of Morgantown; a daughter-in-law, Diann Moore Hayes of Lewisburg; and two grandchildren, Caitlin R. Parrucci and Carrie Ann Hayes. Love RENICK - Merrell Warf Love, 88, of Renick Lane, formerly of Nitro, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born Sept. 21, 1910, at Claswon, Pocahontas County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Bertie Knight Warf. Mrs. Love was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Nitro. Upon her retirement from American Viscose inn Nitro, she and her husband moved back to Renick 27 years ago. She was a former member and past matron of Nitro Chapter No. 153, Order of the Easter Star, and for more than 20 years she served as a girl leader and was the recipient of a life membership. Survivors include her husband, Wesley D. Love; a son, Darrl of Portland, Ore.; twin daughters, Zoe Love Sands of Athens, Ohio, and Zanna Crager of South Point, Ohio, and daughter Toni Powell of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister, Helen Osborne of Orlando, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. Born Sept. 11, 1923, at Lillybrook, she was the daughter of the late William Kelly Sisk and Claricy Godfrey Sisk. Mrs. Sears was a homemaker, a member of Fireco Independent Baptist Church and had lived most of her life at Jonben. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Fred Sears; a granddaughter, Erica Dawn Sears; seven sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include six sons, Wayne Sears and his wife, Carolyn, of Grandview, Freddie Sears and his wife, Nancy, Clarence Sears and his wife, Patty, and Douglas Sears and his wife, Angel, all of Jonben, Kelly Sears and his wife, Kim, of Coal City and Michael Sears and his wife, Belinda, of Cool Ridge; five daughters, Mary Sexton and her husband, Jack, of Grandview, Linda K. Born March 11, 1933, at Layland, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Frances Staton. Mr. Staton was employed by New York Central-Conrail as a conductor for 25 years until he was disabled in 1980. He was a 33-year resident of the Willoughby/Eastlake areas and was a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He was a 1950 graduate of Shady Spring High School. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Malcolm P. and Aubrey F. Staton. Tilley Young, 81, of Sophia, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Feb. 4, 1918, at Milam, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Garner Roles and Minnie Shumate Roles. Mrs. Young was a seamstress at Richmond's Cleaners and Laundry for the past 12 years. She spent her early years in the Saulsville area and moved to the Beckley area in 1963. She was a 27-year resident of Sophia and was a member of Old Grove Chapel, where she was a pianist and song leader. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred C. Tilley; a daughter, Peggy Ann Tilley; a granddaughter, Pamela Tilley; three brothers, Agee "Doc," Aubrey "Rip" and Oval "Mutt" Roles; three sisters, Gladys Roles, Pauline Tolliver and Lorrine Tilley; and her second husband, the Rev. Cleve Young. Survivors include three sons, Glenn E. "Red" Tilley and his wife, Connie, of Crab Orchard, Gene H.
