Register Herald Obituaries for May 24, 1999 Mildred Louise Bland ELYRIA, Ohio -- Mildred Louise Bland, 66, formerly of Meadow Bridge, died Saturday, May 22, 1999, at her home following a short illness. Born April 11, 1933, at Meadow Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Cleo Forren Bland. Ms. Bland was a quality control inspector for the Airborn Division in Elyria, Ohio, attended Meadow Bridge High School and had lived in Elyria, Ohio, for the past 34 years. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Brady, Joe, Jack and Bill Bland; five sisters, Zella Gadd, Christine Walker, Ella Patterson, Margaret Nichols, and Mabel Gwinn. Survivors include a friend, Rosa Life of Elyria, Ohio; one sister, Mary Fury of Rainelle; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Dallas Fitzwater officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Memorial Cemetery at Meadow Bridge. McKinney, 78, of Matoaka, died Saturday, May 22, 1999, in a Princeton hospital following a long illness. Born Dec. 22, 1920, at Basin, she was the daughter of the late James and Charlottie Bell Mills. Mrs. McKinney had been a resident of Matoaka since 1973 and a member of the Basin Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a parts packer for Triplex Co. in Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie McKinney, in 1989 and two grandsons, Joey Mills and Billy Mills. Survivors include one daughter, Lucy L. Mills of Mullens; three sons, Denver McKinney and his wife, Lynda, and Alvin R. McKinney and his wife, Mildred, all of Matoaka, and Alfred B. McKinney and his wife, Judy, of Hickory, N.C.; one sister, Velma Morton of Martinsville, Va.; two brothers, Boyd and Dillard Mills of Basin; and 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Basin Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Hugh McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell McKinney Cemetery at Peaks Ridge in Basin. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Tankersley Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Born Aug. 2, 1918, at Marion, Va., she was the daughter of the late Victor and Dorothy Parks. Mrs. Quillen had been a resident of Rupert for most of her life and had lived in Ohio for the past year. She was a member of Big Clear Creek Baptist Church at Rupert, and she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Cecil Phillips, in 1944; her second husband, G.W. Quillen, in 1980; two daughters, Jo Ann Tolman and Linda Lee Hughart; a son, Delmos Cecil Phillips; two sisters, Pauline and Louise; and three brothers, Jake, Howard and Ralph Parks. Survivors include one son, Dallas Ray Phillips of Germantown, Ohio; two sisters, Juanita and Blanche; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Born March 13, 1933, in Gatewood, he was the son of the late Lee and Lillie Fridley Tincher. Mr. Tincher was disabled and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Rosetta B. Bailey Tincher of Saxon; a son, David Tincher of South Carolina; two daughters, Donna Sue and Beverly Tincher both of South Carolina; a stepson, Jerry Bledsoe of Glen Daniel; a stepdaughter, Peggy Daniels of Saxon; five brothers, Roy, Ray, and Charles Tincher all of Fayetteville, Robert Tincher of Charleston, S.C., and James Tincher of Jonesborough, Tenn.; a sister, Shirley Compton of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. George H. Synder officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Fayetteville.
