Register Herald Obituaries for May 31, 1999 Laura Marie W. Bryant SWANSEA, S.C. -- Laura Marie Wood Bryant, 54, formerly of Coal City, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born Feb., 2, 1945, in Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd O. and Sowia Barker Wood and the granddaughter of the late Oscar and Ollie E. Wood who raised her. Mrs. Bryant spent her childhood at Coal City. She was a graduate of Stoco High School and had attended the Cales Chapel in Coal City. She had been a resident of Swansea since April 1997, moving from Crab Orchard. She had also been an employee of Richmond Cleaners of Beckley for many years. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of six years, Kermit Bryant; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Bryant and her fiancé, Tim Letzin, both of Rochester, N.Y.; three brothers, James "Billy" Shelton of Richlands, Va., George Barker of Princewick and Lloyd E. Wood of Cleveland, Ohio; five sisters, Jane Hopkins of Marion, Va., Margaret King of Richlands, Va., Kate Anderson of Marion, Va., Cathy Baker of Coal City and Linda Carter of Beckley. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Gary Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Pauline Guyer Dasher Pauline Guyer Dasher, 62, of Rupert, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999, at a Rainelle nursing home following a long illness. Born April 27, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Martha Carr and Charles H. Guyer. She was a 38-year resident of Rupert, a former cook at Dairy Delite, a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Dasher, in 1983; one sister, Norma Lee Ellison; and two brothers, Charles and Curtis Guyer. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Dasher of Rupert; two sons, Eric Dasher and his wife Renee of Rupert and Kevin Dasher of Rupert; two brothers, Bernard Guyer of Rainelle and Sherwood Guyer of Springdale; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Isaac Dasher. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum with the Rev. Eddie Keeney and the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Clintonville. Born Feb. 17, 1999, at Beckley, he was the son of Regina Angel Vanoy and Bobby Fraley both of Clear Creek. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Josephine Fraley. Other survivors include one sister, Bobbie Jo Stephens of Clear Creek; one brother, Jimmy Vanoy of Clear Creek; maternal grandparents, Herman and Judy Williams of Clear Creek; and paternal grandfather, Dariel Fraley. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Clear Creek Presbyterian Church, Clear Creek, with Pastor David Pettry officiating. Burial will follow in Ewing Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek. Born Oct. 17, 1921, at Alcott, he was the son of the late William McKinley and Thelma Lee McCormick. Mr. McCormick was a 46-year resident of Corinne, a retired coal miner who had 38 years of service with Itmann Coal Co. He was also a member of the Corinne Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Martha Jennelle McCormick of Corinne; two sons, Bob McCormick and his wife Robin of Florida and Travis McCormick of North Carolina; four daughters, Dottie and her husband Joe Estep of South Charleston, Nancy Kay and her husband Terry Beverly of Tennessee, Sara and her husband Jim Winfrey of Corinne and Jerri and her husband Bob Harrick of California; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens, with the Revs. Curtis England and Gilbert Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Born Sept. 19, 1924, at Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Daniel Morgan and Gladys Maydue Baker Morgan Vance. Mr. Morgan attended Rhema Christian Center and was an army veteran having served both in World War II and the Korean War. He was a master sergeant and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He was also a retired night supervisor for the Bendix Corp. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hicks. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Robinson Morgan; three daughters, Sarah Morgan Harvey of Waynesboro, Va., Patty Morgan Coffman of Ronceverte and Denice Morgan Ludwig of Chester, Va.; one sister, Vivian Buckland of Lewisburg; one sister-in-law, Berle Hicks of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, David Shawn Harvey of Roanoke, Va., Brandon Walkup of Chester, Va., Zerubbabel "Zoobie" Andrew Coffman of Ronceverte and Michael and Haley Ludwig both of Chester, Va.; and one great-grandchild, Joshua Ryan Puffenbarger of South Carolina. Stevens; a son, Lester M. Stevens; and three brothers, Bill Law, John Law and Tallie Law Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Pauline A. Koontz of Columbus, Ohio, and Juanita C. Koontz of Canton, Ohio; a brother, George T. Law of Bradley; a sister, Charlotte Sheiler of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
