Register Herald Obituaries for November 8, 1999 John E. Bailey John E. Bailey, 84, of 202 Birch St., Beckley, died 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Arbor's Nursing Center in Marietta, Ohio, following a long illness. Born Aug. 29, 1915, in Sand Branch, he was the son of the late Henry Rufus Bailey and Lillie Mae Smith Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA District No. 17. He was a charter member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, where he had helped build the original building. He had been a Beckley resident since 1945, having previously resided at Cranberry and the Dry Hill Road area. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, June Maxine Williams Bailey, and three brothers, Edward, Frederick and Thomas Bailey. Survivors include three sons, Fred Bailey and his wife Shirley of Beckley, Ron Bailey and his wife Carolyn of Beckley, and Terry Bailey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Paul J. Bailey of Cranberry; one sister, Ruby Cobb of Harper Heights; six grandchildren, Pam Sizemore, Lori Williams, Ron Bailey II, Shannon Cornett, Melissa Bailey, and Susan Hoskins; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Pastor Roy Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Beasley, 66, of Lester, died 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born March 14, 1933, in Pemberton, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Tate Royal. Mrs. Beasley was a homemaker, a member of the Lester Church of God, and a resident of Lester since 1981. She had made her home at Mabscott for the greater part of her adult life. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Royal, and two sisters, Gladys Godbey and Cora Coleman. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Virgil Beasley; two sons, Virgil Beasley Jr. of Lester and Bill Beasley of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Mary Campbell and husband Nick of Lester, Tammy White and husband David of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Laura Beasley of Lester; one brother, George Royal Jr. of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Brenda Hendricks of Glen Daniel, Mae Worley of Sophia and Jean Loggins of Glen White; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, with the Revs. Brian White and Linda Gray officiating. Burial will follow at the Canaday Cemetery at Glen View. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley. ---------- Ronald Lee Bennett Ronald Lee Bennett, 43, of Eccles, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999. Mr. Bennett was born Oct. 5, 1956. He was the son of Annie Honaker Bennett of Eccles, Patricia Kopec of Sophia, and the late Norman Bennett. Mr. Bennett spent his childhood at Eccles. He was a former resident of Ft. Pierce, Florida, returning to Eccles in 1990. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Lee Honaker. Survivors include one son, Jake Brian Bennett of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; five brothers, Bobby and Russell, both of Eccles, David and Robert, both of Lexington, N.C., and Greg Merix of Beckley; three sisters, Linda Ferrell of Ft. Willis Kelly Jeanette Lynn Willis Kelly, 19, of Kincaid, formerly of Kilsyth, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, following a four-wheeler accident. Born July 22, 1980, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the Rev. David E. and Dorothy Willis of Kincaid and Jesse Kelly of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents, survivors include three nieces, Tiffany and Michelle Ransom of Fayetteville and Amber Willis of Princewick; one nephew, Jimmy Ransom III of Fayetteville; one sister, Lara Ransom of Fayetteville; two brothers, John Willis of Princewick and David Willis of Shady Spring; two grandmothers, Iva Hunley of Piney View and Delma Skaggs of Kilsyth; and one great-grandmother, Annie Ellis of Piney View. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope, with the Rev. Debbie Truman officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call two hours before services Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope. ---------- Bobby Gene Pritt Bobby Gene Pritt, 67, of Pickaway, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital from a heart attack. Born Oct. 31, 1932, in Union, he was the son of the late Harold L. and Ethel Ellison Pritt. He was raised by the late Ellis and Ruby Givens. Mr. Pritt was a graduate of West Virginia University, served in the U.S. Army, and retired with 37 years of service with the West Virginia State Department of Health. He was a member of the New Lebanon Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and clerk of the session, and was co-moderator of the Virginia Presbytery. He was an active member and current president of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club, and a caring and loving father. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Pritt. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Vance Pritt; one son, Terry Gray Pritt, MD, of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Harold Lloyd and his wife Diana Pritt of Yuma, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the New Lebanon ARP Church, with the Revs. Ron Pritts and David Deskins officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery, Pickaway. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home in Union, and one hour before service at the church. Born Dec. 22, 1926, in Davy, he was the son of the late Walter Rose and Saddy Rice Rose. Mr. Rose was a retired coal miner with 42 years of service, 25 years of which were with Eastern Associated Coal Corp., Kopperston No. 2. He was a member of the Kopperston Freewill Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Edith Maynard Rose; three daughters, Ann Rose of Kopperston, Edna Dishmon and her husband Jeff, of Glen Daniel, and Carol Messer of Cleveland, Ohio; three sons, Danny Rose, Dennis Rose and Albert Rose, all of Cleveland; one brother, Howard Rose of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Jenny Underwood of Burlington, N.C.; one granddaughter, Jessica Dishmon of Glen Daniel; two grandsons, Tiny Messer and Charlie Messer, both of Martin County, Ky.; three additional grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kopperston Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Raybon Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
