Register Herald Obituaries for November 11, 1999 Lucille 'Granny' Egnor MANASSAS, Va. – Lucille "Granny" Egnor, 83, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in a Fairfax, Va., hospital following a short illness with cancer. Born March 21, 1916, in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Thomas and Lula Deck Bowman. Mrs. Egnor was a homemaker and had been a resident of Manassas for the past 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell R. Egnor, Sept. 11, 1969; a son, Russell Darrell Egnor, June 17, 1997; an infant grandson; and a sister, Katy Florence Shields. Survivors include a son, Larry Wayne Egnor and his wife, Mary, of Centreville, Va.; a daughter, Karilyn Kunstbeck and her husband, Charles, of Vienna, Va.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom reside in the northern Virginia area; a sister, Joyce Fondale of Crab Orchard; two nephews; four nieces, and three maternal aunts, Gladys Aldridge, Este Rhodes and Lottie Sturgill. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Phil Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. "Lonnie" Jones, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, while visiting his daughter in Wallace. Born June 16, 1919, he was the fourth son of the late Carrie and Joe Jones of Glen Jean. Mr. Jones was a World War II veteran, worked as a C&O Railroad agent and retired from J.P. Hamer Lumber. He attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Everett Jones. Survivors include his loving wife, Fannie Ferri Jones; a son, Lon Jones; a daughter, Lynn Jones; his grandchildren, Josh, Blake and Jennilin Jones; two brothers, Pete and Jimmy Jones; and three sisters, Maggie Lane, Nelsie Ferri and Ruth Hardiman. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School, Oak Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Lonnie Jones to the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School. ---------- ---------- Dewey Webb RAND – Dewey Webb, 48, formerly of Beckley, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in a Charleston medical center following a short illness. Born June 28, 1951, in Montgomery, he was the sixth of 10 children of the late John Webb and Dolly Webb Cross. Mr. Webb graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969 and West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1977 with a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree. He also received a degree from West Virginia State College Graduate Study where he majored in music. He was employed by West Brook Health Services of Ripley as a social worker, therapist and a certified addiction counselor. He also worked for Shawnee Hills Mental Health as a consultant. He was an actively involved in numerous theater productions in the Charleston area. He had roles with the Light Opera Guild, and was also a member of the board. Mr. Webb was a tenor with the Charleston Area Community West Virginia Symphony Choir and traveled with the Community Players of Charleston. He was preceded in death by his father, John Webb; and a brother, Emmanuel Madison. Survivors include two sons, Ian Matthew Webb and Colen Mckensie Webb, and their mother, Dawn Webb, all of Charleston; his mother, Dolly Webb Cross of Beckley; five sisters, Barbara Fowlkes of Atlanta, Sue Webb Hoston of Beckley, Vickie Webb and Diane Webb, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Virginia Gibbs of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, John Webb Jr. and Larry Webb of Beckley, and Harry Webb of Paso Robles, Calif., and a host of relatives, nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Levi Missionary Baptist Church, Rand, with the Revs. Ben Merchant and Thomas Steelman officiating. Burial will follow 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call noon until time of services Friday at the church. Arrangements by Durgan Funeral Home, Beckley. ---------- James 'Lukie' Woodson James Lewis "Lukie" Woodson, 44, of 245 Antonio Ave., Beckley, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at a Beckley hospital. Born Oct. 26, 1955, in Oak Hill, he was the son of John Ellis "June" Woodson of New York and Franzetta Pryor Woodson of Beckley. Mr. Woodson was a draftsman, a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a vocal artist. He played semi-pro football with West Virginia Rockets, was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Center College in Charleston. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Brown; a brother, John Ellis Woodson III; his grandfather, John Ellis Woodson Sr.; his grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Pryor; and an uncle, Fred Pryor. Other survivors include a brother, John "Pedie" Woodson of Beckley; a sister, Elaine Lang and her husband, Larry, of Atlanta; his paternal grandmother, Caudie Moore of New York; a special friend, Katrina Cook of Beckley; nephews, Danell Lewis and Marcus Manns; nieces, LaResha Lang, Eleena Lang and Titiana Jackson; five aunts, Virginia Jefferson, Dreama Minor, Doretha Banks, Cynthia Haynes and Odessa Berkley; three uncles, the Rev. David Pryor, Glenn Pryor and Charles Pryor; a host of cousins and relatives; a great uncle; two great aunts; and friends. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Outreach For Christ Christian Center, 416 G St., Beckley, with the Revs. David Pryor and Thomas Steelman, Bishop Fred T. Simms and the Rev.
