Born Feb. 27, 1908, at Judson, she was the daughter of the late Lewis C. and Lyda Holdren Reed. Ms. Dotson was a retired school teacher in Washington state and also in Summers County. She was a member of Bascon Methodist Church, Rupert, and had been a resident of Hinton for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Dotson, in 1987; four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include two sisters, Patria Ellison of Hinton and Bernice Beaver of Charleston. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with the Rev. Sterling Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Born Nov. 21, 1937, at Tralee, she was the daughter of the late Harvey E. Canada and Gusta Bennett Walker. Mrs. Ellis was a former resident of Crab Orchard for 15 years and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Udell Canada. Survivors include her husband, Ray E. Ellis; four daughters, Debbie Dowdy and her husband, Ray, and Candice Bartley, all of Rustburg, Va., Theresa Lopez and her husband, Ronnie, of Corinne and Kimberly Adkins and her husband, Kenneth, of Huntington; two sons, James Bartley of Lashmeet and Alex Ellis of Mullens; a sister, Joan Canada of Douglas, Ga.; a brother, Tex Canada and his wife, Carol, of Charleston; a sister-in-law, Frankie Canada of Charleston; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Goldsberry was a member of Bim Freewill Baptist Church. For 35 years she was the loving wife of the late Opie D. Green of Bim and the proud parent of eight children. Two children preceded her in death, Chester and Corina, as well as a son-in-law, Junior Toler. Survivors include six children, two daughters-in-law and three sons-in-law: her two sons, Carl Lee Green and his wife, Shirley, of Bim and Dewey E. Green and his wife, Evelyn, of Arizona; and four daughters, Ella Mae Green Toler, Mary Lou (Cotton) Green Vance and her husband, Goff, of Bim, Carol Sue Green Ferrell and her husband, Frank, of Ohio and Delta Christine Green Orlowski and her husband, David, of Illinois. Bertha was a caring grandmother (MomMaw) to 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. For seven years, she was happily married to the late Cecil Goldsberry of Twilight. She is survived by his four children, David Goldsberry of South Carolina, Earl Goldsberry of Georgia, James Goldsberry of Madison and Anna Lee Goldsberry Pauley of Foster; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Loretta Goldsberry Brown preceded her in death. She had nine brothers and sisters; five brothers preceded her in death, Gilbert Gibson, Hubert Gibson, P.D. Gibson, Willie Gibson and Sam Gibson; and two sisters, Josie Gibson Osborne and Goldie Gibson Lusk. Other survivors include two sisters, Millie Gibson Moore of Alderson and Nettie Gibson Green of Bim. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee L. Graham; her second husband, Bill Byrge Sr.; her third husband, Lloyd Ellison; a daughter, Helen Juanita Graham; a son, Walter Ray Graham Sr.; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, Leonard W. Hale, 52, formerly of Skelton and Beckley, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, after a long illness. Born March 6, 1947, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Calantha Hizer Hale and the late Frank M. Hale. Mr. Hale was retired from Ford Motor Co. as a supervisor. He was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Skelton, and a member of Greater Grace Temple, Detroit. Mr. Hale was a 1965 graduate of Stratton High School, Beckley, and a member of the Stratton High School Band. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank M. Hale of Beckley. Survivors include his former wife, Carol Daniel Hale; two sons, Stanley D. Hale Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Kenneth D. Hale of San Diego Naval Base; a grandson; a granddaughter; a sister, Marlene Hale of Bronx, N.Y.; four brothers, Franklin "Philip" Hale and his wife, Lyla K., of Detroit, John M. Mrs. Hellems was a lifelong resident of Hinton, a homemaker and a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church. She was co-owner and operator of Temple Market and Hellems Furniture in Hinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hellems, in 1976; and two sisters, Mamie Reid and Amma Mann. Survivors include a son, T.J. Hellems and his wife, Jewell, of Charles Town; two daughters, Sandy Clark and her husband, Gary, of Pearisburg, Va., and Nancy Taylor of Dover, Del.; a sister, Irene Ball of Lewisburg; a brother, George Krise Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Lee Keaton, in August 1974; and three sisters, Mary Booth, Bessie Peters and Dora DeHart.
