Register Herald Obituaries for November 22, 1999 James Gordon Hardy HINTON – James Gordon Hardy, 78, of Nimitz, died 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, in a Hinton hospital following a long illness. Born June 1, 1921, in Ansted, he was the son of the late French and Opal Hiser Hardy. Mr. Hardy was retired from Combined Insurance Co. with 28 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Vernon Hardy; and one sister, Lorena Hardy. Survivors include his wife, Sue Hart Hardy; one son, James Gordon "Gordie" Hardy II, and wife Adina of Nimitz; one daughter, Rena Hardy Blacklocke and husband David of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Reginald Hardy of Beckley; three sisters, Virginia Jarvis of Scarbro, Hazel Johnson of Ansted, and Macel Pridemore of Dunbar; five grandchildren, Dawn Corman of Anchorage, Alaska, Sherri Summers of Bradenton, Fla., William and Jeffrey Murto, both of Charleston, S.C., and James Logan Hardy of Nimitz; one great–grandchild, Patrick Previtt of Bradenton, Fla. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with the Rev. Don Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Pivont Funeral Service, Hinton. Wauline F. Lambert RAINELLE - Wauline F. Lambert died of a sudden illness in Fairlea Medical Center. Daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Goddard Swackhammer, she was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Rainelle. Mrs. Lambert was a retired worker for Medics in Ohio and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Lambert of Rainelle; one son, John Lambert and wife Brenda of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Twila Carol Lambert of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Richard Jiles and wife Cale of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Nikki Jiles of Rainelle; six grandchildren, Deanna Ferrell, Sandra Lambert, Karl Band, Robert and Amanda Russell and Tonya Cyrus; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Smathers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smathers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Thornton officiating. Entombment will be at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville. ---------- Paul T. Shrewsbury Paul Tyrone Shrewsbury, 53, of Grandview, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in an industrial accident. Born March 7, 1946, in Rhodell, he was the son of Mrs. Goldie Green Shrewsbury of Beckley and the late Mr. Paul W. Shrewsbury. Mr. Shrewsbury was a graduate of Stoco High School. He worked for American Electric Power (AEP) as an Area Serviceman for 20 years. Mr. Shrewsbury served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received numerous awards. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Henrietta Wyatt Shrewsbury of the home; a stepson, Ronnie "Porker" Lefler, of Beaver; a stepdaughter, Cindy Lefler Lusk, of Glen Morgan; three sisters, Peggy Hollins and her husband Harry, of Beckley, Beverly Adams and her husband Carroll of New Bern, N.C., Veronica Edwards and her husband Lloyd of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Travis, Cody and John-Michael Lusk of Glen Morgan, and Andrew and Macalah Lefler of Beaver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Day officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Midway VFW Post No. 4326 will conduct Graveside Military Honors. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richwood, a WWII Air Force Veteran, a retired coal miner and 29-year Scout Master No. 269. Survivors include his wife, Louise Wayne, of Richwood; three daughters, Leda Bess, of Richwood, Leah Barnette, of Craigsville, and Lauren Semancik, of Oberlin, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, with the Rev. Timothy Skaggs and the Rev. Allen McKinney officiating. Interment will be at the West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood.
