Register Herald Obituaries for October 2, 1999 Kenneth E. Noah Sr. LANCASTER, Ky. ­ Kenneth Eugene Noah Sr., 74, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in an Orlando, Fla., medical center. Born Oct. 16, 1924, in Ellwood City, Pa., he was the son of the late Albert and Margaret Silvis Noah. Mr. Noah was a retired director of cooperative education at Eastern Kentucky University, a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church, Lancaster, and founder of the Cooperative Education Association in Kentucky. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer, world traveler, Pittsburgh Steeler fan and good friend. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William; and four sisters, Peggy, Evelyn Mae, Donna Faye and Patricia. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ellis Noah; two sons, Kenneth Noah and his wife, Marilyn, of Morgantown and Jeff Noah and his wife, Karen, of Havana, Ill.; two sisters, Alice Maturo of Jasper, Ala., and Edie Gaudi of Jeannette, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Adam, Katelyn and Kylie. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with son Jeff Noah officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. Graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post No. 4326 of Sophia-Midway. Friends may call 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Michael E. Price OAK HILL ­ Michael E. Price, 41, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in an Oak Hill medical center following an apparent heart attack. Born Sept. 29, 1958, in Charleston, he was the son of Ronald and Mary Ann Price of Orlando, Fla. Mr. Price was employed by Fola Coal Co. at Bickmore as a heavy equipment mechanic. Other survivors include his wife, Karen Marshall Price; a stepson, Drew Ballengee of Oak Hill; two brothers, Gregory Price of Cross Lanes and Richard Price of Charleston; and two sisters, Beverly Gragg of Charleston and Deborah Thomas of Charlotte, N.C. Services will be noon today at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. James Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Ratliff MALLORY ­ Mary Ethel Ratliff, 98, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in a Logan hospital following a long illness. Born Feb. 26, 1901, at Rita, she was the daughter of the late Graves and Nancy Maynard Burgess. Mrs. Ratliff was a homemaker, a member of Campus Church of God and a lifelong resident of Logan and Wyoming counties. She was known as Mammaw Ratliff to the entire community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher C. Ratliff; three sons, Randolph, Orville and Marvin Ratliff; a daughter, Virgie A. Caldwell; five sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia O'Neal and her husband, Bruce, of Mallory; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Campus Church of God with the Revs. Chelsey Noel Jr. and J. Wayne Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery, Toney Fork. Michael Thomas Robertson, 54, of 224 Joseph St., Beckley, died at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at his home. Born June 13, 1945, in Mabscott, he was the son of Ralph Thomas Robertson and Mildred Louise Aldridge Robertson of Beckley. The Rev. Robertson was a former social studies teacher in Michigan City, Ind. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He received his B.S. degree from Anderson University, Anderson, Ind., his master's degree from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., and his doctorate from The School of Theology at Anderson University. Survivors include a son, Ralph Thomas Robertson Jr. of South Bend, Ind.; a daughter, Ida Florence Louise Robertson of South Bend; a brother, John Robertson and his wife, Carol, of Erie, Pa.; two sisters, Donna Richmond of Surveyor and Mickie Seletyn and her husband, Samuel, of Cumberland, Md.; and one grandchild. Lloyd L. Sykes CLINTONVILLE ­ Lloyd L. Sykes, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at his home following a sudden illness. Born March 23, 1918, in Clinchco, Va., he was the son of the late Isaac Walter and Rosie Reedie Sykes. Mr. Sykes was a 50-year resident of Clintonville, a retired coal miner and construction worker and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He attended James Chapel United Methodist Church, Clintonville. He was preceded in death by a son, Orville "Bub" Sykes; a sister, Opal Godfrey; and a brother, Roy Sykes. Survivors include his wife, Margie R. Walkup Sykes, and her sister, Pat Craft, of Clintonville; a daughter, Sharon S. Craft and her husband, Jerry, of Clifton Forge, Va.; five sons, Duane A. Sykes and his wife, Angelia, of White Sulphur Springs, Michael L. Sykes and his wife, Vickie, of Romney, Wayne Edward Sykes of Clintonville, William Douglas Sykes and his wife, Cynthia, of Rupert and David R.
