Register Herald Obituaries for October 4, 1999 Lula Bowling ODD ­ Lula Edith Bowling, 92, of Odd died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at the home of her nephew Virgil Bowling of Shady Spring following a long illness. Born Feb. 15, 1907, at Streeter, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Amanda Cleora Pack Adkins. Her grandmother Anne Pack reared her. Mrs. Bowling was a homemaker and a member of the Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church at Jumping Branch. She made her home at Odd for over 50 years. She was married for more than 40 years to Nelson Bowling, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, including care givers, a nephew, Virgil Bowling and his wife, Carol, of Shady Spring, and a niece, Lenna Walker and her husband, Jethro, of Odd. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Elder Dale Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Nannie Miller PRINCETON ­ Nannie Grace Miller, 87, of Princeton died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at a Princeton hospital. Born June 6, 1912, at McGrady, N.C., she was the daughter of the late David Newton Caudill and Robena Sophrona Hall Caudill. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. "Bill" Miller; one brother, David Caudill; and one sister, Nora Lamb. Mrs. Miller was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton and a homemaker who also loved to farm and garden. She is survived by one daughter, Sue Carol Miller Calleo and her husband, Louis, of Warner Robins, Ga.; one granddaughter, Dr. Dreama Jenkins Pilcher and her husband, Dr. William Pilcher, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one great-grandson, William Cain Pilcher of Jacksonville; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Pilcher of Jacksonville; one brother, the Rev. Major Caudill and his wife, Arliss, of McGrady; and two sisters, Ester Scruggs of Athens and Mary Sheets of Luray, Ohio. Services will be 11 a.m. today at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. John King officiating. Interment will be at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton. Diane Romain CLEVELAND ­ Diane Earlene Romain, 57, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, following a long illness. Born Feb. 7, 1942, in Ansted, she was the daughter of Anne Rogers Bonner and the late Earl Bonner. Mrs. Romain was a resident of Cleveland for 23 years, a member of Mount Chapel Baptist Church in Ansted, a Marine veteran of Vietnam and a retired manager of Service Master. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Bonner, in 1997. Survivors are her mother, Anne Rogers Bonner of Ansted; one son, Adrian Romain of Cleveland; fiancé Andrew Davis of Cleveland; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Chapel Baptist Church in Ansted with the Rev. Robert Morton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements by Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted.
