Register Herald Obituaries for September 6, 1999 Joseph C. Bennett Joseph Carlos Bennett, 53, of Plumley Mountain, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his home. Born March 7, 1946, in Rupert, he was the son of the late Noah J. Bennett and Dorothy Marie Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, and he was employed with Aspen for 20 years. He enjoyed playing gospel music and working on the farm. Survivors include his wife, Brinda Bragg Bennett at home; two sons, Michael Bennett and wife Christy and Adam Bennett all of Grandview; a daughter, Theresa Blevins and husband Dusty of Dobson, N.C.; two stepsons, Robert Plumley and Ronnie Plumley and wife Kim both of Plumley Mountain; three grandchildren, Buddy Brammer, Buck Blevins, both of Dobson, N.C., and Mikey Bennett of Grandview; one stepgranddaughter, Kayla Plumley from Plumley Mountain; two sisters, Virgie Bennett and husband Richard of Shady Spring and Nora Adkins and husband Roger of Grandview; two brothers, Harold Bennett and wife Gracie of Shady Spring and Delbert Bennett and wife Helen of Dobson, N.C.; and many other family and friends. Services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Frankie Lyons and the Rev. George Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Donald Lee Adkins, Harold Williams, Lee Bennett, Ernie Plumley, Dennie McMillion, Melvin Wills, Michael Bennett and Brent Brammer will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley. Joyce Marie Cox Joyce Marie Cox, 44, of Laurel Spring Road, Prince George, Va., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at her residence. Born in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Betty Plumley Adkins. Mrs. Cox was a nurse with Drs. Durrani and Mujeebuddin and had been a resident of Prince George County since 1991. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Adkins. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Richard Cox of Prince George; two daughters, Tami L. Basford and husband David of Callaway, Md., and Jennifer M. Cox and fiancé Russell Lunstrum of Dahlonega, Ga.; and a brother, Michael Adkins of Greensboro, N.C. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m. There will be a private burial. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince George Emergency Crew, P.O.
