Register Herald Obituaries for September 10, 1999 Dorothy Bohoney Dorothy Bohoney, 66, of Beckley, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. She was born June 1, 1933, in Wayne County. Survivors include a brother, Rudy Bohoney and his wife, Jackie, of Toledo, Ohio; and three sisters, Betty Wolford of Toledo and Mary Rogers and Virginia Petry, both of Hesperia, Calif. Mrs. Bohoney will be missed by her friends and family of VOCA Corp. of West Virginia. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. today at Piney View Bible Church with Pastor Smith officiating. D. Pamela Cabe D. Pamela Cabe, 48, of Fairdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, in Beckley. Born June 30, 1951, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Ross and Geraldine Jones Phipps of Beckley. Mrs. Cabe worked in the office at Richmond Cleaners for nine years. She was a 1969 graduate of Trap Hill High School and had been a Fairdale resident most of her life. She was of the Episcopal faith and was an active member of the community. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her husband, taking pride in her children and enjoying her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Albany Milam Jr.; her father-in-law, James Earl Cabe Sr.; and her maternal grandparents, Buster and Hilda Daniels. Other survivors include her husband of 28 years, James Earl Cabe Jr.; a son, James Albany Cabe of Fairdale; two daughters, Danette Lynne Cabe and Amy Lang Cabe, both of Morgantown; two granddaughters, Daysha LaDawn Mills and Kailey Breanne Cabe; two sisters, Barbara Myers and her husband, Dennis, of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and Harriet Coldiron of Beckley; an aunt, DaGloria Milam-Bsharah of Beckley; a stepbrother, Darrell Phipps of Beckley; a stepsister, Diana Pizzino of Beckley; two nephews, Paul and Patrick Myers of Shamokin, Pa.; her mother-in-law, Christine Cabe of Beckley; and two brothers-in-law, Charles A. Cabe of Glade Springs and Jerry L. Cabe of Cincinnati. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Jerry Cantley officiating and a eulogy by Lee Milam. There will be no visitation. Vester Dixon NEW RICHMOND ­ Vester Dixon, 74, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long battle with cancer. Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Mullens, he was the son of the late Lacy Monroe and Ora Bell Grooms Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a salesman for Owens Manufacturing and a member of Christian Fellowship Church of Saulsville. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Dixon. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Aretta Tilley Dixon; two sons, Lacy Dixon Jr. and his wife, Loretta, of New Richmond and Roy Dixon and his wife, Sue, of Jesse; a daughter, Deborah Hill of Fayetteville; three grandsons, Mickey Monroe Dixon and his wife, Misha, of Ashland, Ky., Roy Dixon Jr. and his wife, Shelly, of Lynco and Shawn Dixon of New Richmond; a granddaughter, Wendy Vann and her husband, Mark, of Sunset Beach, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren. "Charlie" Pittman, 29, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at 280 Hummingbird Ave., Princeton, following a long illness. He passed away at the home of his aunt and uncle, Dr. Jun and Shelby Neri of Princeton. Born Oct. 1, 1969, in Beckley, he was the son of Charles J. "Charlie" and Lois Collins Pittman of Sophia. Mr. Pittman was a department manager for Wal-Mart and a member of Grace and Truth Ministries. He was a member of the Sophia City Fire Department. He was preceded in death by a sister, Terri Clay. Other survivors include his wife, Tracey Baldwin Pittman of Mount Hope; a daughter, Bethany Trae Pittman of Mount Hope; a brother, Jeff Pittman and his companion, Linda Carr, of Sophia; twin sister, Charla O'Dell and her husband, John, of Sophia; a brother-in-law, Edward Baldwin of Mount Airy, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Marie Noble of Wisconsin, Teresa Jernigan of Mount Airy and Shirley Marshall of Maple Fork; his mother-in-law, Mary Baldwin of Maple Fork; his church family; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Jack Lee Rogers OAK HILL ­ Jack Lee Rogers, 46, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, in a Beckley medical center following a long illness. Born April 29, 1953, in Oak Hill, he was the son of Katherine Yoney Rytky of Oak Hill and the late Roosevelt Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a disabled veteran and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include a brother, Michael Wingate and his wife, Candace, of Minden; a nephew, Michael Wingate of Minden; and a niece, Holly Wingate of Minden. Born Sept. 12, 1928, in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bessie Short. Mr. Short retired from the state of Virginia and was a member of Hardy Central Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the VFW, having served his country in Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roena Short, in 1993; a brother, Bernie Short; and two sisters, Edna Schmierer and Essie Short. Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Hill and her husband, Michael, two grandsons, Christopher and Brandon Hill, and a great-grandson, Cameron Hill, all of Church Hill, Tenn.; a sister, Bonnie Rhodes of Beckley; two nieces; three nephews; dear friend, Dorothy Hawkins. Survivors include her husband, Richard S. Wallace Jr.; a son, Richard S. Wallace III and his wife, Judy; a daughter, Susan E. Richmond; brothers and sisters, John, Fred, Bill, Louis, Jim Lyons, Patricia Parker and Emma Lyons; a sister-in-law, Janet Lyons; and many other relatives and friends.
