Register Herald Obituaries for September 19, 1999 Glen Lee Bellamy Jr. TEXAS CITY, Texas ­ Glen Lee Bellamy Jr., 75, of 725 N. Amburn Road, formerly of Beckley, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his home. Born Nov. 26, 1923, in Prosperity, he was the son of Lois Wright Bellamy of Prosperity and the late Glen Lee Bellamy Sr. Mr. Bellamy was a retired chief operator for Union Carbide in Texas City, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Mainland Church of Christ in Texas City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Bellamy of Baltimore. Other survivors include his wife of 53 years, Geneva Beasley Bellamy of Texas City; a daughter, Glenda Moore and her husband, Bob, of Clear Lake, Texas; two sons, Keith Bellamy and his wife, Diane, of Bishop, Texas, and Douglas Bellamy and his wife, Ann, of Houston; a brother, Herbert Bellamy and his wife, Gertrude, of Prosperity; three sisters, Annie Crowder of Summersville, Carol White and her husband, Monroe, of Sugar Land, Texas, and Nadine Jaap and her husband, John, of Prosperity; a sister-in-law, Polly Bellamy of Baltimore; five grandchildren, Barbara, Pamela, Jennifer, Janice and Jason; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah. Services were Monday, Sept. 6, at the Chapel of James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque, Texas, with Tom Medlin and Cecil Haffelfinger officiating. Burial followed in Forest Park East, Webster, Texas. Earl James Bragg HINTON ­ Earl James Bragg, 89, of Tug Creek Mountain, Hinton, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in a Hilldale care home following a long illness. Born Sept. 8, 1910, in Summers County, he was a son of the late John and Pricia James Bragg. Mr. Bragg lived most of his life in Summers County, was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded him in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Hicks Bragg; an infant son; a brother, Pearl Bragg; and a sister, Patsy Kelley. Survivors include a son, James Bragg of Tug Creek Mountain; two daughters, Loretta Fill of Dublin, Ohio, and Nora Eggleston of Hinton; two brothers, Paul Bragg of Tug Creek Mountain and Carl Bragg of Brooksville, Ohio; a sister, Ethel Jones of Brookville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Debbie Rito, Michael Wills, Geannette Powell and Rhonda Funk, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Melissa Williams and Mary Ann Eggleston, both of Hinton; and nine great-grandchildren. Ruby 'Pauline' Fraker OAK HILL ­ Ruby "Pauline" Fraker, 78, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Fraker was a homemaker and member of Oak Hill Assembly of God. She was a 29-year resident of Oak Hill, formerly of Ronda and Kayford. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Paul Fraker; three daughters, Carolyn Basham of Martinsville, Va., Ruby L. Johnson of Jellico, Tenn., and Shirley J. Watson of Oak Hill; two sons, Jack P. Fraker of Elkins and Philip Fraker of Miami; four sisters, Bessie Tincher of Bob White, Francis Craigo of Lorain, Ohio, Mary June Bragg of Jacksonville, Fla., and Norma Stanley of Leewood; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Assembly of God with the Revs. Marvin Dennis, Ray Ledbetter and Tommy Basham officiating. Arrangements by Pryor Funeral Home, East Bank. Azel Paris Green FLAT TOP ­ Azel Paris Green, 81, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Jan. 25, 1918, in Lillybrook, he was the son of the late Azel and Dora Cooper Green. Mr. Green lived most of his life at Flat Top and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer, Carson and Earl Green; and three sisters, Bertha McBride, Virginia Green and Nellie Griffith. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Glenna Wills Green; two sons, Darrell Denver Green and his wife, Shelby, and Donald David Green and his wife, Debbie, all of Flat Top; two brothers, Johnny Green and his wife, Jan, of Mabscott and Howard Green and his wife Ardis, of Beckley; a sister, Ethel Fitzwater and her husband, Eli, of Crab Orchard; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Virgie Haywood MOUNT HOPE ­ Virgie Dean Lambert Haywood, 51, died Friday, Sept, 17, 1999, of an apparent heart attack at her home. Born Sept. 18, 1948, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Archie Augustus and Minnie Sue Altizer Lambert. Mrs. Haywood was a homemaker and attended of Crossroads Apostolic Church, Bradley. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie S. Lambert and Eva M. Lambert Williams. Survivors include her husband, David A. Haywood Sr.; a daughter, Lisa D. Haywood of Mount Hope; two sons, David A. Haywood Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Hilltop and Keith E. Haywood and his wife, Pamela, of North Carolina; four sisters, Naoma F. Meadows of Virginia, Mona B. Hall and Nancy A. Harrah, both of Terry, and Peggy S. Lambert of Harvey; three brothers, William L. Altizer of Ohio and Archie A. Lambert and Robert C. Lambert, both of Scarbro; and seven grandchildren. Huffman, 86, of Blue Lick Road, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at a Lindside, care center. Born Nov. 22, 1912, at Matoaka, he was the son of the late Lewis Winton and Dollie Basham Huffman. Mr. Huffman was a self-employed carpenter, farmer and coal miner, and also he worked for Martin Marietta Aircraft Corp.He attended Spruce Run Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Buford and Thedford Huffman. Survivors include his wife, Opal Athea Huffman; a son, Dwight "Ike" Huffman and his wife, Cathy, of Blue Lick Road; a daughter, Sue Carol Yarchin and her husband, Dan, of San Diego; three brothers, Gilvie Huffman of Lindside, Carson Huffman of Beckley and Noel Huffman of Falling Waters, Md.; a sister, Gersie Richmond of Coal City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
