Register Herald Obituaries for September 20, 1999 Danny James Brown LILLYDALE ­ Danny James Brown, 52, of Lillydale died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at a Man hospital following a long illness. Born April 2, 1947, at Logan, he was the son of Willa Allen Lewis of Oceana and the late James "Dick" Brown. He was a retired coal miner from EACC, a UMWA member and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Ed Lewis; an aunt, Ruth Cook; a brother, Curtis Lewis; and an uncle, Henry Allen. Survivors include six sons, Thomas Brown and his wife, Linda, and Clifton Brown and his wife, Misty, all of Glenfork, Clayton Brown and his wife, Kim of Lynco, Danny Joseph Brown of Lillydale, Preston Short of Harrisonburg, Va., and Dale Short and his wife, Wanda, of Clear Fork; a sister, Linda Bryson of Oceana; a brother, Timothy Lewis of Atlanta, Ga.; a faithful companion, Lisa Baldwin; two grandchildren, Kylee Lusk and Kelsey Johnson; and many friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jay Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery at Lillydale. Pallbearers will be D.J. Juanita F. Jarvis BECKLEY ­ Juanita F. Jarvis, 72, of Beckley, formerly of Barrett, Boone County, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home following a short illness. Born Feb. 23, 1927, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Nutter and Rose Stevens. Mrs. Jarvis was a housewife and a member of the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos G. Jarvis. Survivors include two sons, Robert Jarvis and his wife, Joyce, of Beckley and Carlos Jarvis Jr. and his wife, Lana, of Wharton; two daughters, Carletta Jarvis of Vance, Ala., and Sandra Simon and her husband, Mike, of Louisville, Ohio; two sisters, Nancy Cordle of Oak Hill and Carol Adams of Leesburg, Fla.; a brother, Donald Nutter of Norwalk, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Lorain Lambert MIDWAY ­ Lorain Lambert, 85, of Midway, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Jan. 8, 1914, at Sandy Hook, Ky., she was the daughter of Joseph and Susie Wilson Quesenberry. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Blaine Lambert; one son, Charles Edward Lambert; and two brothers, Bob and Denzil Quesenberry. Survivors include three sons, Johnny Lee Lambert of Jefferson, Ohio, William Kenneth Lambert of Sophia, and Eddie Joe Lambert of Midway; five daughters, Gladys Milleson of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Shelby Jean Baker of Middleburg, Ohio, Margaret "Margie" Ashby and Faylene Utt, both of Midway, and Brenda Lou Weikle of Bellefontaine, Ohio. Other survivors include four sisters, Ruth Frasier, Gladys Waite, Bonnie Waddle, all of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Tessie Randall of Summerset, Ky.; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Nicholas Jason Walker BECKLEY ­ Nicholas Jason Walker, 19, of 205 McGinnis St., died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Born Sept. 29, 1979, in Beckley, he was the son of Timothy Grant and Ramona Mae Wickline Walker of Beckley. Mr. Walker was an advanced relief child care worker at Cherry Hill Shelter and was also employed by The Bicycle Store. He was a graduate of Independence High School and a member of the West Virginia Mountain Biking Association. He was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County. Other survivors include his sister, Angela Renee Walker of Beckley; paternal grandparents, Wilford G. Walker of South Carolina and Mildred L. Walker of Josephine; and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Lilly of Athens. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calfee Cemetery on Mount Tabor Road with the Rev. Roger Brammer officiating. Walls CYCLONE ­ Norman Reed Walls, 85, of Cyclone, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at his residence following a long illness. Born March 25, 1914, at Cyclone, he was the son of the late James Garfield Walls and Ida Cook Walls. He was a retired coal miner who worked for the Island Creek Coal Co. He was also a UMWA member, attended the Campus Church of God and was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corp. during the Roosevelt Administration. Mr. Walls was an avid gardener and beekeeper. He was preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. Guy Walls and Joe Walls. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice Cook Walls; two sons, Marshall Ray Walls and his wife, Jenny, and Jonathan Norman Walls and his wife, Bobbi, both of Summersville; six daughters, Karen Toler and her husband, Tom, of Summersville, Dorothy Beam and her husband, Tom, of Cleveland, Ohio, Eleanor Noel and her husband, the Rev. Chelsey Noel Jr., and Ruth Cline and her husband, Joe, both of Cyclone, Norma Walls of Thomasville, N.C., and Janet Woods and her husband, John, of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Bill and Frank Walls, both of Cyclone; two sisters, Elsie Horn of Charleston and Elizabeth Perry of Cyclone; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Williams BECKLEY ­ Mary Margaret Williams, 63, of 109 Locust St., Beckley, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home following a long illness. Born April 5, 1936, at Raleigh, she was the daughter of Leona Fitzpatrick Williams of Beckley and the late Ernest R. Williams. Miss Williams was a retired educator in Raleigh County, having been a teacher for over 42 years. She taught at various locations, including schools in Baltimore, Md., and Homestead and Hialeah, Fla. She taught English at Woodrow Wilson High School. Her last employment was as a home-bound teacher for the Raleigh County School System. Miss Williams was a 1954 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High and received her bachelor's in education from Concord College, where she was a 4.0 student. She received her master's degree from Appalachian State and was working on her doctorate in sciences. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Beckley, the Retired Teachers Association and the AARP. She was an officer in the Yufon Group, where she served as the representative of Raleigh County, while traveling to various parts of the United States and England. Surviving are her sister, Marian W. Canaday, of Beckley; a brother, Ralph Emerson Williams and his wife, Crissie, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a niece, Marie Williams; and a nephew, Ralph Ernest Williams. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Father Pericles Malacaman officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a Christian prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by the Rev.
