Obit For Charles Martin Bailey, 1866-1967 Charles Martin Bailey -- 101-Year-Old County Man Succumbs Nov. 10, 1967 Charles Martin Bailey, one of the county's oldest citizens, and a retired school teacher and farmer, died at 2 a.m. today in a local nursing home. Bailey, who was 101 years old in September, had been in ill health for some time. A resident of 413 Temple St., he was a member of the First Baptist Church. Born Sept. 3, 1866 in Raleigh County, he was a son of the late William H. and Ann Teel Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Griffith Bailey, on Jan. 15, 1957. Survivors include four sons, Guy C. and Price, both of Beckley, R. E. of Montgomery, and Percy, of Rand; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Dew, Orlando, Fla., and Nora Bailey, at home; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Peace Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Swank and Rev. Lloyd Newlin in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.
