Obituary For Basil French Bailey, 1903-1968 - Raleigh Co. WV Prosperity Man Dies In Florida 18 Dec. 1868 Basil French Bailey, 65, of Prosperity, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a Naples, Fla., hospital after an apparent heart attack. He was born March 1, 1903 at Prosperity, a son of the late Walter and Mary Phipps Bailey. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Beckley, the Loyal Order of Moose, Beckley Lodge 1606, and chairman of the North Beckley Public Service District. Survivors include his wife, Doris Kidd Bailey; three brothers, Carl of Prosperity, R. G. of Beckley, and W. D. of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Arnold of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Ethel DeHart of Port Richie, Fla. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Dr. Walter Griswold in charge. Burial will follow in the Kidd Cemetery at Prosperity.
