On January 16, 1782 it was ordered that Patrick McCAN be permitted to keep an "Ordinary", at his home for one year from date, if he gives a Bond, with Daniel McCAN as Surety. This license was regularly renewd each year, including 1790 as is shown by the minute books, and possibly later. At any rate, Book 13, page 117 shows that on January 18, 1813, Patrick McCAN was again licensed to keep an Ordinary (Inn). Preserved in photostat from among the Marriage Bonds (Vol. 1, page 278) is the Bond of Patrick McCAN to keep such an Ordinary, dated February 9, 1798. His father Laurence McCAN was his surety in this instance. The conditions of the Bwere stated as: "Sd. Patrick doth constantly find and provide in his sd.
