Copyright 1997 by Judy Wright sandcrab @gulf.net. ********************************************************************* Obituary of Mrs. Hubert Gear of Huttonsville, WV Mrs Minnie Corder Herron Gear of Huttonsville, died Sunday night at 9:55 o'clock at her home, She was the wife of Hubert Gear. They celebrated their 59the wedding anniversary last October 14. Mrs. Gear was born at Huttonsville Oct. 31, 1876, a daughter of John and Martha Jane (Smith) Herron. She was a member of the Huttonsville Methodist Church, the WSCS of the church, and Rebekah Lodge No. 103, of Huttonsville. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, and one son, Harry Gear of Huttonsville: Mrs. Gladys Lutz of Buckhonnon; Mrs. Edith Sallaz of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Frances Rucker of Elkins; Mrs. Carrie Buchanan of Valley Bend; one brother and one sister, Burl Herron of Elkins and Mrs. Ellen Taylor of Elkins. There are nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Huttonsville Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. Gilbert Hart, with interment in the Brick Church Cemetery. The remains will be removed from the F. E. Runner Funeral home to the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and will be taken to the church Wednesday at 1 o'clock to lie in state for one hour before the service. Here is another write up for Minnie Gear: From the Elkins Intermountain Newspaper Dec. 27, 1956 "Gear Rites Are Held Yesterday" Last rites for Mrs. Minnie (Corder) Gear, 80, wife of Hubert Gear of Huttonsville, who died Sunday night at her residence, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Huttonsville Methodist Church. The Rev. Gilbert Hart officiated with interment in the Brick Church Cemetery, by the F. E. Runner Funeral Home. Mrs. Martha Ross, Mrs. Edith Lower and Jake Cox accompanied by Mrs. Gilbert Hart, sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Face to Face." The active pall bearers were: Bert Simmons, Glenn Forinash, Clair Wamsley, Gail Matthews, Delmar Ware and Howard Louk. Honorary pall bearers were : Betty Matthews, Mrs. Harold Chenoweth, Mrs. Glenn Forinash, Mrs. Albert Brown, Mrs. Cecil Hill, Jr., Mrs. Bert Simmons, Betty Buchanan, Mrs. Harold Gear, Mrs. James Gear, Mrs. John Forinash, Mrs. Brooks Snyder and Mrs. Dan Sites.
