The Prichards of Fourmile Creek alias: Pritchet,Pritchard, Pritchett, etc. I, Edward Prichard, in a zealous quest to find my "roots", have managed to compile the following bits of information on the family known as Prichard. My great, great, great grandfather was William Prichard (sometimes spelled differently). In April of 1833, William Prichard and Mary Lyon married in Lawrence County Kentucky. During their stay in Kentucky, they birthed Lewis, John and Susanna. By 1850 William and Mary were farming in Wayne County, Virginia. They had married off Susanna to William Kelly and daughters, Polly A. and Nancy, and sons Wesley, William and Zacharius had been added to the Cradle rolls. When 1860 came, William and Mary had left Wayne Co., Va. and moved to Boyd County Kentucky, leaving Wesley in Wayne co. and Lewis and his bride, Julia Evaline Eplin in Cabell County with daughters Clerissa and Nancy. John had married America Parsons and settled in Smokey Bottom, Kentucky leaving their first born (George W.) in the care of Lewis and Julia. By the time Lincoln County was formed from Cabell County, William and Mary, and Lewis and Julia Evaline were residing on or near Trace Branch of Fourmile Creek of Branchland. Daughters Lydia, Eliza, and Susan had been born to Lewis and Julia, while William and Mary's Nancy had left home marrying Thomas Cremeans. Wesley and Jessica Charity (Eplin) continue living in Cabell County. William Jr. and Zacharias are still living at home. As the pages of the calendar turn to the year 1880, we find John and America, William Jr. (now married to Cynthia Harless) , Zacharias (married to "Mary Jane"), and William and Mary all living on Fourmile Creek. I take great pride in calling myself a Prichard. The years that come after 1880 leave us with a rich bounty of fruit from the William and Mary Tree - All honest, hard working Pri(t)chards filled with pride and love of their offspring. Many of those Prichards that came before us have gone to unknown cemeteries and unmarked graves. Because of this, I am stymied, that is to say I have hit the proverbial ";brick wall";. Anyone having any additional information, especially pertaining to the ancestors of William and Mary (Lyons) Pritchard or any of their children please phone (collect) 304-736-7005 or write to Edward R.
