Wv Submitted by Muriel Schulz (schulz@usc.edu) 1815 DEED George Gregg to William and Samuel Gregg, 156 acres on Middle Island Creek from Deed Book 1, page 9 This Indenture made this Sixth Day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifteen between George Gregg of the one part of Tyler County and State of Virginia and William Gregg and Samuel Gregg of the County and state aforesaid of the other part as being Joint Heirs in Common witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to him in hand paid by the said William and Samuel the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and him the said George Gregg is fully satisfyed and for divers other good causes and considerations them thereunto moving hath granted bargained sold aliened enfused and confirmed unto the said William Gregg and Samuel Gregg and their heirs forever all and singular a certain tract or parcle of Land on Middle Island Creek being that part of the Jug whereupon the Said George Gregg now lives and bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at a White Oak and Hickory on the Creek Bank Corner to Thomas Gregg thence down the Creek with the several meanders thereof and binding there on Four hundred and twenty seven poles to a beech on the creek bank corner to John Nicholin and with his line North fifty eight degrees East forty seven poles to a stone corner to George Gregg Junior and with his line south Sixteen East one hundred and eleven poles to a white Oak Corner to George Gregg and Thomas Gregg and with the said Thomas is line South two degrees West fifty two poles to a stone corner to the said Thomas and with his line south Seventy Seven Degrees East Sixty four poles to the beginning laid for the said William Gregg and Samuel Gregg and containing one hundred and fifty Six acres to have and to hold the above discribed Tract of Land and premises with all the appertenances thereunto belonging to them the Said William Gregg andf Samuel Gregg and their heirs forever to be applyed to their proper use and behoof and him the said George Gregg doth hereby Covenenant and agree for himselfe his heirs Executors administrators and assigns to and with the Said William Gregg and Samuel Gregg their heirs Executors administrators and assigns that him the said George Gregg the above described tract of Land and premisses shall and will Warrant and for ever defend against himself and his heirs or any other person lawfully claiming the same in any way in through or by him by their presents in testimony of which he has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Birckhead Mary Gregg Seal 1827 DEED Samuel Gregg & Wm Gregg & wife to Thomas Gregg, 156 acres on Middle Island Creek From Deed Book 2, page 396 This Indenture made this 14th day of Novr. in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty seven between Samuel Gregg of the County of Kenhawa and State of Virginia and William Gregg & Nancy his wife of the County of Tyler and State aforesaid of the one part and Thomas Gregg of the County and State last aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Samuel Gregg and William Gregg and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Gregg the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said Thomas Gregg his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Tyler and State of Virginia and on Middle Island Creek and part of the tract commonly called and known by the name of the Jug Handle and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a white oak and hickory on the Creek bank corner to Thomas Gregg thence down the Creek according to the several meanders thereof and binding thereon four hundred and twenty seven poles to a beech on the creek bank corner to Thomas Inghram and with his line N58 E42 poles to a stone corner to George Gregg's heirs and Thomas Gregg and with the said Thomas Gregg's line S2 W52 poles to a stone corner to said Thomas and with his line S27E64 poles to the beginning containing one hundred and fifty six acres more or less. To Have and to Hold the above described tract or parcel of Land with the appurtenances to the said Thomas Gregg his heirs and assigns forever. And they the said Samuel Gregg and William Gregg and Nancy his wife for themselves their heirs etc doth hereby covenant to and with the said Thomas Gregg his heirs and assigns that they the said Samuel Gregg and William Gregg and Nancy his wife the above described tract or parcel of land unto the said Thomas Gregg his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend against all manner of persons and claims whatsoever.
